“Nice room - shame about the noise”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2008

The hotel seemed nice on arrival, the room was clean and the bathroom wasn't too bad - bit mildewy and a patch on the ceiling but it was cheap so hey ho! However, it was pretty warm when we went so the windows had to be permanently open. We were on the third floor which was very stuffy for some reason. Then at about 9pm the adjacent snooker hall kicked off, music so loud it was like being in a concert until 2/3 am and drunk loud people immediately below the room outside shouting and laughing. Lack of sleep really impaired our time there. However, staff were very nice and friendly, the receptionist hailled a cab for us to get us to the airport quickly, and breakfast in the adjacent cafe was very nice and only £6.95. My advice would be, if you want a sound night's kip stay elsewhere or bring earplugs as it is a significant problem! If you can sleep like a log in a hot room then you'll be fine!

Nice enough hotel. Huge bed and ok room. Staff very helpful and friendly, just what you expect in Dublin.

On a main road into the centre so good bus links (stop right outside hotel).

Only downside was its quite noisy at night from adjacent bars and clubs. Didn't stop me sleeping but couldn't have the window open overnight.

The Camden Deluxe is a nice little place with a good central location for walking around in Dublin. The parking was difficult to locate, and when we did find a garage - we experienced a hit and run and received damage to our rental car overnight. This booking didn't include breakfast, but there were lots of places nearby for that. The staff was friendly and helpful, and when our room key kept deprogramming they were very diligent to fix the problem. This hotel has a lift for your heavy bags, which is nice. Internet was available in the rooms as well.

When we arrived it was Saturday @1am so the street was awash with drunk young people. The front of the Hotel looked like a shop so we thought we in the wrong place!!

When we got shown to our room the windows were open and we could not beleive the noise(music) coming from the ajoining nightclub. On closing the windows it could still be heard, this went on until 6am together with the sound of glass bottles being thrown into a large container. We didnt get a wink of sleep that night.

Next day was very quiet (they were all sleeping it off). Shopping was good plenty of them.

It all started again that night, even after a few drinks ourselves it was loud. People coming into the hotel at all hours drunk making a racked, banging on doors.

This place is fine if you are young and are out joining in but if it isnt the place to be for a quiet break!!

About 10 minutes from Grafton St/St Stephen's Green. Pretty good location. Definitely a budget hotel, but we were happy with it.

the hotel was central, just 10 min. walk to Temple Bar area, the room and the bathroom big. from the window you could see the back side of the noisy street, which is good if you don't like noise. there is a club attached to the hotel, but since we did not stay during the weekend we did not have any problems with noise. But, the room was not very clean, there were stamps of coffee or something like that on the walls, and the bed covers were disgusting, since you could tell that they don't wash it. there were two sets of cups, plates and spoons if you wanted to make coffee, which were soooo dirty, making me wonder how these people think, and how it is possible that they don't care about their image at all. it surely needs some renovation. one member of the staff was ironic and unhelpful. the store room where you can leave you luggage if you have to check out early, is not safe. everyone can have access from the back side of the street. i wouldn't stay there again, since i am sure that there are better hotels at the same price, but if you are not looking for something very special it's ok.

We were a group of 9 people traveling here, partly work-related. We had 6 rooms, and most of us got rooms on the 3rd floor, which probably was better because of the pub/pool hall downstairs. We arrived Saturday night, and the street outside was pretty much alive...

Well inside we got our keys, experienced a lot of trouble with our keycards, which the management solved by running up and down for us fixing it. If your window doesn't close, however, don't expect it to be fixed (this problem's been mentioned in earlier reviews, and I guess the management is not going to try to fix it).

I was in charge of booking accomodation for this trip, and having studied these reviews, I was really worried about the standard. Turns out, this is a great two-star hotel. Note; this IS a two-to-three star hotel, so if you book it, it won't be perfect! It seems to me a lot of the reviews haven't really taken this into account, and expected more.
All our 6 rooms were clean, but had the impression of being somewhat worn down. The bathrooms were clean in all the rooms, and the bathtubs were a delight ;)
We ate our breakfasts in the downstairs cafe "Heavenly", were it was clean, the servants were servicable, and the food was acceptable, but not amazing :) All in all, I have no trouble recommending this hotel to other travellers.

Some tips:
- it's advicable to ask for rooms turning back towards the backyard, or on the upper floors (2nd or preferrably 3rd, where most of us stayed)
- if you can't get the above, it might be a good idea to bring earplugs anyways, as this hotel lies in a part of Dublin pub- and nightlife.
- but bathsalts and take a long and nice bath after a day out on the Irish town!
- you can easily walk only 5-10 mins to the top of Grafton street (main shopping) and St. Stephens Green (a wonderful park). Buy a great map on the SPAR grocery store opposite of the hotel!

  • Liked — Clean rooms and great service.
  • Disliked — One of our group's expensive lotion got stolen during the day we were out.
