Aircoach bus to and from the airport, reasonably priced, drops you on Marion Square right around the corner from this Georgian style hotel. Several blocks walk to Trinity College and you're in the busy hustle of Dublin. Elegant old architecture and large room with all the traditional amenities. Breakfast was continental or order from the menu at an traditionally set table - no cutting corners here; delightful. Walk north on Marrion Street Upper and pass Leinster House home the the Irish Parliament - beautifully lit at night. Try Foley's Pub on the corner of Marrion Street Upper and Marrion Row. Great meal at restaurant upstairs and Trad Irish music in the pub below.

Stayed here 23 to 27 August 2010. I got a great deal off the internet around £60 per night for the room for 2 people. The room was large with an opening window and the beds were very comfy for a hotel. There were plenty of towels and hot water in the bathroom. The staff were helpful and this is the only hotel I have been where you don't hear the chambermaid rattling round outside your door at around 7am. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel but there were plenty of cafe's nearby

Yes the room could have done with a lick of paint and the bathroom needed regrouting but overall it was large, clean and very acceptable for the money and I would not hesitate to stay here again.

It is outdated and when I say that I mean OLD!!! I have never written a negative review but as much as I travel and I do A LOT, i have never hated any hotel this much!!! Let's start with lights going off few times a day - mostly in the evening and staff that was not eager to help you right away so we would have to sit in the dark for 15 minutes at the time. Why? because as they explained they were too busy at the front desk helping other clients.

They invite you to have breakfast at 7-10.30 am but they DO NOT tell you it is NOT included in rate so you are full of surprise when you see you bill at the end of the stay at more less $20 per person for breakfast - IT IS NOT WORTH IT ONE BIT!!!

What else... I ordered the all inclusive movie/internet package in the room so we can watch a movie before going to sleep (I remind you lights are going off few times during the course of the movie) and I wanted to browse the net for up to date email and such BUT the keyboard DOES NOT work. I call downstairs and they say - perhaps it is broken... That I already knew, but they wouldn't replace it with a working one.

Bathtub and bathroom sink had two faucets.. 1 with cold and the other with hot water. There is not way to wash your hands or face in luke warm or warm water - you have to chose 1 or the other. Hot water is VERY hot and you can easily burn your fingers.

Service horrible!!! They explanation for most issues during my stay were - they are out of their control as the hotel is old... THAT'S RIGHT OLD!!! Therefore, you are better off staying ANYWHERE else... you don't travel for leisure to deal with situations like this one. They ruined my trip to Dublin and I would never recommend this hotel to anyone so they can avoid all the headache.

I really liked this hotel. We got a good deal, and it was far enough away from nightlife to be relaxing, but still within a 10 minute walk from some buzzing pubs.
Friendly staff, parking 10 euro, free wireless in the lobby.
Clean, nice sized rooms. I would definitely go back here or recommend it to people over 28 who want to avoid the Temple Bar hotel scene but still be close to city centre.

I stayed here for 3 nights Sept 3-6, 2010 with two girlfriends and we had a really great stay. The room was HUGE for a European hotel room... (large for an American one) and had three separate beds. The room was air conditioned and had windows that opened and (a plus!) heavy drapes to cover the morning light. We were on the 6th floor and had a lovely view out of our window. We had no problems whatsoever with noise.

There is free internet / computer to use in the lobby and there was never a wait to use it. The staff (with the exception of one girl who was kind of snotty) was good. Not overtly helpful (meaning they did not offer any additional tips or suggestions, but nice and efficient and answered questions when asked.

The location of the hotel is about a 6-7 minute walk to Grafton Street / Trinity College, so really good location, and the airport shuttle drops off a literal 1 minute walk from the hotel! There are several places right around the hotel to eat, get coffee, or a drink.

If I were being picky, I would say:
There is some paint peeling on the bathroom ceiling and the grount on the tile needs to be bleached.
The beds could be a little more comfy.
The air conditioning didn't do a great job of cooling (we ended up keeping the windows open to keep it from being stuffy).
You have to pay to use the wireless in your room.
And the Front Desk staff could go beyond just answering your questions and be a little more initiative in offering information.

That said, I feel that we made an excellent choice in our stay, and would stay here again with no reserves.

Stayed one night with my son on recent trip to Ireland and was very impressed with this hotel from initial check in where we were greeted with such friendliness and efficiency ; to checkout next morning.Breakfast was great with large variety and excellent venue-room lovely clean and comfortable with no road noise.
Only slight bugbear was inroom internet connection(extra cost)was extremely slow and quite frustrating trying to check email etc as kept disconnecting..reception much better in foyer of hotel however.
But this aside, would definitely stay here again when next in Dublin and recommend this hotel to others.

I recently stayed in the Davenport hotel, along with my husband and in-laws. I was very happy with the hotel.

I got a great internet deal, and wasn't sure what to expect. I was at first startled by the outward appearance of the hotel. It is in a historic building with a somewhat banged-up facade. However, the inside was very nice.

The hotel rooms were nice - not luxury rooms by American standards. However, they were nice, spacious, well outfitted rooms. The location was very convenient for walking to Trinity College, St. Stephen's Green, and so on. Over all, I was really happy with my stay and I'd stay there again.
