Stephen was his name. Quiet thorough and a complete complement to the entire staff. Stephen waited the dining room lounge, served the most delicious scones and tea we encountered during our trip around Ireland. He deserves a extra pat on the back on behalf of your staff.

The staff makes this hotel special. Both front desk and servers in the restaurants are extremely helpful and friendly. I found the rooms/bathrooms quite average and somewhat worn. The beds were not very comfortable and headboards didn't match the mattress (?). Buffet in the morning was adequate. The restaurant/bar in lobby is nice. Internet didn't work well. Location was quite good, within walking distance of most things. Cabs right out front. Overall, a good place to stay in Dublin!

I stayed 10 days at the Davenport. It was great. Room was comfortable, restaurant delightful. The breakfast buffet was great. Possibly could use a little more variety. The staff was very helpful. The Guinness in the pub was very tasty.

Was a very nice hotel in the heart of where I needed to be in Dublin.
Attended a conference in the Hotel for two days and the food (which I had low expectations of) was really good and offered a wide selection of food during the Conference Lunches.
The Service at Breakfast was a little slow (for instance I was not asked if I wanted Tea/Coffee or what my room number was) but the food was really really nice.
I would stay at the hotel again but if not travelling for work I might find a cheaper option. However, it was really good value for money.
Wish I had used the swimming pool now... (didnt know they had one!)

We recently stayed for 3 nights at the Davenport after 14 days of touring Ireland. We found the rooms clean, comfortable and well apppointed. The service was exceptional! At one point when our electric kettle stopped working, I went to the front desk to request another. The teapot actually was delivered to my wife in the room before I got back there a few minutes later! The breakfast buffet was abundant and had quite a selection. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. When we return to Dublin, we will be staying here again.

Had the grand room which was very roomy. Reception staff were ever helpful, friendly and always willing to go above and beyond my expectations.

Location-wise it was ideal. The area wasn't overly busy, but it was just close enough to some action like shops, galleries etc that we weren't ever far away from activities.

My irish brekky was lovely, but my only complaint was that the coffee was generally weak. I always asked for a strong pot, but always got a weak pot.

Brekky was always a buffet of cut fruit, pastries, some basic choices in bread, scrambled eggs, baked beans, cooked tomatoes, white and black pudding (sadly, too dry and didn't enjoy them), pork sausages (nice) and bacon (generally cooked to a point where it was pretty tough). The bacon got a bit better for the duration of our stay, but not by much.

Apparently, you could also ask for a different style of eggs. We only ever saw scrambled, but didn't realise til the last day that we could ask for the eggs to be cooked a particular way.

Either way, it was enough to give you a really good start to the day.

The hotel also has a gym (which I didn't use) and it had the general basics of a gym including treadmill, exercise bikes, elliptical machine and some weights.

The cleaning staff were the most efficient I've ever experienced!

I would use the O'Callaghan again, but costs for wifi left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth. There were a few choices of packages, including 12 euros for 24 hours at the standard speed. I ended up paying about 31 euros for the week I was there. Just would've expected the wifi to be included in the price of the room.

Knowing all of this, I'd stay here again. It was lovely and staff were friendly and efficient.

Room Tip: I had room (7)226 and the view was of the back of the hotel and the front of some American College...
