“Pretty good!!!”
Reviewed May 24, 2007

Stayed here for 3 nights in May prior to taking a tour of Ireland. I chose this hostel due to the fact that the tour left from there the next morning. I stayed in the cheapest dorm (24-bed mixed) and got a bed close to the door with my own area for hanging stuff up and a place to put my bag in. There's no sink in the dorm, so if you want to wash your face or do your teeth you have to walk down to the actual (mixed) bathroom. I stayed on level 1, and the bathroom was feral. The toilets leaked (there were towels around the bottom to soak up water) and they were very rarely clean. The showers were okay, but offer you no privacy whatsoever, and only a tiny hook on the outside to keep stuff dry and off the wet floor. The level 2 toilets and showers were better, and the level three ones even better than that! So advice for people staying here - go for the level three bathroom!! The location was great, in the Temple Bar area and within walking distance to O'Connell st. There's a fantastic lounge with enormous tv, comfy couches, good bookshelf and FREE INTERNET!!! Very important! Breakfast is only toast and orange juice/tea, but it's better than nothing. The price is pretty expensive, but by Dublin standards it's budget! It's a bit of a trek(if you have heavy bags like me) to the bus stop for the airport, but I guess you could pay for a taxi and it wouldn't be too bad.

Kinlay house was an excellent find. With an amazing location in Temple Bar, a friendly staff, and great ammenities like breakfast and free internet, it is one of the best hostels I've stayed at. The showers could at times be annoying/ too hot or cold but other than that this hostel was perfect.

This hostel is in a great location, in walking distance to all the main tourist sights and bars and restaurants. The bunk beds were comfortable. The only problem we had was the shower's hot water would only come on in the morning.

I would highly recommend others to stay here and would stay here again.

Stayed here on a weekend break to Dublin in Aug 06. We had an en-suite twin.

Hostel pretty much does what it says. Room was cleanish, although not spotless. Room was small, with no furniture besides the two beds and a small bedside table. I guess this is okay for a hostel (relative to a hotel).

Shower requires you to push the button every minute or two, but hot water is plentiful so no complaints. Bathroom is wetroom style with a shower only. Not the cleanest I've ever seen, but certainly not scummy or unpleasant.

Hostel has regular facilities. Breakfast was toast/cereal, nothing great but no problems. We didn't use tv or internet so I can't comment on these.

Location is good, 5m walk from Temple Bar area and maybe 10m from other highlights of Dublin. The airport shuttle drop-off point is only about a 5m walk as well, so all in all good location.

I would probably recommend this to anyone looking for budget accommodation and willing to go the hostel route. It's not a spot for a romantic weekend or for those who want hotel rather than hostel facilities.

Stayed in this hostel with my partner before heading off on a bus tour around the Western parts....stayed in a 24 share room, only had a problem with one of the guests trying to keep the light on well after midnight while reading a book. :P

In a nice location, about a 10-15 min walk to the Temple Bar District and other nice bars and resturants.

The beds were nice and the room was pretty quiet. Had to buzz in everytime you entered, so it was really safe.

Had a nice breakfast in the morning, and helpful staff gave me ideas on what to do during the day.

Also had free internet access!

Would stay again :)

We stayed in a decent sized twin room with ensuite bathroom for 40 euros a night. You have to push the button in the shower every 20 seconds (like in many hostels). Otherwise it's a fine place to stay and not very far from the Temple Bar district where all the big pubs are. ** Breakfast included: toast and tea. Nothing special but the place has a comfortable townhouse feel.

This was an o.k. hostel. It was VERY loud. You could hear the front door slam open and closed all night. We shared a clean room with other girls. The bathroom was small but fairly clean. Normal breakfast of toast. Bring your ear plugs.
