“Great Location, Clean Rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2014

Stayed Here at the end of last year and was pleasently suprised at the cleanliness of our room! Considering the good price we got the room at for 5 nights i wasnt expecting to much, however we got a balcony overlooking the courtyard, nice clean beds and a nice and clean bathroom aswell. The location is great as it is just across the water from temple bar where all the action happens and just down the road is the centre of all shopping. There is also a tour company just across the road and the tours depart right out fron of the doorstep basically. The staff were very helpful and very friendly. The only disappointment was the breakfast, was pretty basic and because the hotel is part hostel aswell it was very busy most mornings but other then that it was a great stay!

When booking the hotel there were either great reviews or rubbish which is why I wanted to leave my review.
The hotel is basic - clean and in a great location!!
The concierges are fantastic & make the hotel - with their knowledge of Dublin & are happy to help with tours, places to eat & where to go. For the price this hotel is great - id stay here again.

We booked two nights at Townhouse based in large part on its web site, which showed clean and bright, though somewhat spartan rooms. The initial price was fantastic, until we switched our travel plans and moved our reservation to a Friday and Saturday night. The Saturday night price was very high (which we later attributed to the Six Nations rugby match that weekend), but I don't think the accommodations justified the rate. We were advised that the shower should run for 1-2 minutes to get hot water -- it was more like 10-15 Saturday morning. The radiator didn't work very well, and the window was quite drafty; the good and the bad was that the window was also enormous, letting in a lot of light but also air. Good thing there were thick-ish curtains. As for the room, it was tiny but workable, though the mattress, pillows, and comforter were all made of foam and pretty unyielding (or they had already yielded under the weight of other guests). One plus was the large breakfast selection, complimentary each morning of our stay. Wi-fi also worked well, and the location cannot be beat for its proximity to most Dublin sights.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the interior garden, though our room overlooking the street was surprisin...

I have previously stayed in this hotel. It hasn't changed much in 12 years, and that is a good thing. The staff are friendly, welcoming and very helpful! The room was basic, but clean, the shower was warm and the bed was so comfortable, I didn't want to get out of it! Breakfast was not included in our price, but that was because we booked it through Booking.com. Next time we will book directly through their website. Check in says 15:00, but we were allowed to check in at 13:00.

It is next door to a backpackers Hostel, which I believe is run by the same people. There are many Hotels/Hostels along the same road, but this one stands out with its big red sign. The building itself is quite quirky, some of the rooms you can get to by the lift by reception, others you need to walk up some stairs and across a landing before you get to the lift. Its unusual, and adds to the Hotel's appeal

A downside to the room we were in was the outside noise. I believe we were next to an office or structural works, as there was an air conditioning Unit blowing until at least 11pm - 12am every night. I didn't notice the noise myself, but my other half said the noise kept him awake. Not a Major complaint from either of us. The only other sticking point was the age of the TV in the room and the TV reception, which we hardly watched anyway. I think I'm just nit-picking as I really liked this hotel.

The hotel itself is only about 5 minutes walk from O'Connell Street, with excellent links for busses, coaches and shops. It also has excellent Wifi.
