Hi Clarke

Thank you for taking time to offer your opinion of your short visit to The Townhouse, your reaction is somewhat surprising as you have stayed with us before and we have in fact improved our product and service since your last stay. However, everyone is entitled to an opinion and we value all feedback whether we feel it is fairly balanced or not. Upon your assertion that you did not want a triple room that included a double bed, and due to the fact that we had a full-house due to the Rugby in Aviva Stadium, we gave you and your friends a full refund. At The Townhouse we pride ourselves in our products and services, we have gone to great lengths to provide a Tourist Information Desk, FREE-Wi-Fi, Refurnished Rooms, FREE Breakfast when you Book Direct on Our site, FREE Draws on our Facebook site and so forth. While we are disappointed with the tenor of your opinion expressed here, we do look forward to your next visit, if you need a triple room with single beds rather than a double and single, please let us know.

Regards

Muriel O’Connor, The Townhouse, Dublin City Centre Accommodation

As two couples we arrived for three nights in March 2013, and were met by the most helpful and charming man on the front desk called David. We were given a warm welcome and our breakfast cards (two) and our room key-card and number, then the four of us went upstairs, however we soon realised that we were only given just the one room! David was really apologetic and gave our friends their breakfast cards and a room key-card and room number, but for a twin room only as the hotel did not reserve a double room for them! He said he was so sorry there had been a mistake and in the morning they would be moved to a double room.
The following morning after a lush Irish breakfast, they were told that their room would be ready by 1:30pm, so we had to wait around to be able to move their luggage to the new room
It transpired that the double room was actually just another twin room with the beds pushed together and 'locked into place' with one mattress uneven to the next.
When we went to suggest there had been some kind of mistake, we were given an indifferent response from a lady on the front desk so we asked to speak to the Manager who was called Muriel. She gave us lots of grief, tried to give us a lame excuse that the twin rooms and double rooms are the same (they weren't as our room was quite different to our friends) worldwide with locking beds (which they found moved apart in the night anyway) but she had an unapologetic attitude even when we said it was the hotel's fault! She then went on to say that the hotel rooms are lovely and everything is perfect so why should we have a problem? There were lots of little things that were wrong with the rooms but we didn't mention them until she got us started! If we wanted to nit-pick, between us, their shower plug was blocked which filled up and flooded the bathroom floor, the sides and floors were dusty, the TV channels were fuzzy, the toilet bowl was dirty, the curtains and headboards were stained with what looked like bodily fluids; On the flipside, the shower itself was hot and powerful and just perfect! The rooms were bright, bathroom was tasteful, the bed linen was extremely clean and comfortable and re-made daily by the room service ladies and clean fresh towels were always supplied.
The policy of this hotel is to keep the customer as happy as possible and they want to be responsible for the comfortable stay; On the welcome booklet in the room is a personal signed guarantee by Muriel which says this and is completed with: "If you do not feel that you have had good value then I will personally refund whatever you think appropriate" - However they were not offered any kind of compensation or money off and when they had to ask for it, it was declined. It was not until I said "what about your guarantee?" At that she paused then said - "well what do you want then??" She then offered just 4 Euro off per night! Our friends said they should at least have the first night free which was declined. They managed to get her to agree to just 12 Euro off per night! AND she made them feel like they were ripping her off with her sour expression whilst giving back the "refund". We felt uncomfortable whenever we saw her after that.
Other staff in the hotel were only too pleased to help, with David being an exceptional host, giving us free tips and advice, offering help with calling taxi's, providing all the information we could need and showing a real personal interest in us.
On our last day we had to check out by 11am and our flight was not until 8pm so we were able to leave our luggage in a locked storage room which was great.
On the whole, the hotel is really nice. It is comfortable with a relaxing atmosphere, there is a nice wi-fi area, free internet use, free breakfast - full and continental and it's location is perfect.
We would recommend lunch at O'Shea's (the best!) on the corner of Talbot Street which is a stones throw from the hotel, and if you are interested in something a little different then take the train from nearby Connolly Station to Howth just 20 minutes away - a fishing village with cliff walks and scenic views over the bay.
We would return, but would call next time to ensure our booking was secured - Our friends would return to Dublin, but not to the Townhouse Hotel.

Room Tip: Ensure you are getting what you pay for! If you book a double room, don't be fobbed off with a t...

A nice budget priced hotel in Dublin. Decor is interesting - certainly plenty of character, pleasant staff& car parking available. Close to city centre. We just stayed one night as at a wedding in the Westin hotel near Trinity which was within walking distance. Good breakfast. If you want luxury stay at the Westin, if you want a good value place to stay with comfortable beds & decent breakfast stay here at a fraction of the price!

Stayed for one night and got this place last minute. Location was just a 2 minute walk from the bus depot . And just around the corner was the way into the town. Staff were really attentive and make you fell welcome. The rooms were clean and warm and the only problem was the main road outside which is really busy during the mornings. Would suggest asking for a room that isn't at the front of the building. Also, room cost just 39 euros a night which is really cheap consider how good the hotel was :)

I stayed at The Townhouse with a friend in September 2012 for three nights and we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and found an excellent base from which to explore Dublin with O'Connell Street being a few minutes walk away and the airport bus stopping just outside. The breakfast was of a very high standard and offered a cooked breakfast, soda bread with jams and other spreads and a variety of cereals, juices and hot drinks. The whole hotel including our room was very clean and keeping our bags in the store room was not a problem at all for the hotel staff.

There were just two slight annoyances at staying here which was that i ordered a twin room and we were given a double (although we didnt ask for a different room) and also the water pressure of the shower was very poor - nevertheless i would highly recommend a stay at this hotel for anyone staying in Dublin as its very good value for money (also our breakfasts were free because we booked online aswell).

My husband and I stayed at The Townhouse B&B for several nights in January 2013. The staff all were very helpful with suggestions and directions. Our room was warm and comfortable . Wireless service and a computer room available for guests. The location is a short walk to O'Connell Street and only a block away from The Irish Family Life Centre (genealogy research) buses, restaurants and shops all within an easy walk.
