“Very clean”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

For the money we paid I think this hotel was very good value for money the only thing that may put people off is the noise from outside but having said that when it came to returning to the airport on our last morning at 7am it was very handy to just walk across the road to the bus stop! So you cant have everything perfect especially when staying in a city. The hotel was very clean and the staff could not be faulted. Not far to walk into the centre of Dublin.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room that doesnt look onto the road if noise would bother you.

Stayed here over the Easter weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Was one of the cheaper hotels in Dublin for the weekend with good reviews and we weren't disappointed. Our room was clean and had everything we needed (apart from a fridge but we managed very well without). The floors were quite creaky and the bath was pretty small but the staff were very friendly and the breakfast on offer was very tasty. Our room was opposite the bus station with a train line running nearby but it didn't seem to hinder our sleep. I would recommend a stay here for a well-priced central hotel.

We arrived at the Beresford and were showed to a lovely room at the top of the hotel. The room was a good size as was the bathroom and both were spotless but as the night wore on what we thought was noise from the air conditioning unit was getting more annoying. When we foned reception asking how we could turn it off we were told that a member of staff would be with us in 5 minutes amd in less than that sure enough he arrived at our door informing us that the noise was in fact from a filter system on the roof and we were to be moved to another room. Wow what a understatement. We were in fact given an upgrade to one of their renovated georgian suites in the old part of the hotel which was really beautiful. The response and help from all staff members was second to none and we would like to thank them once again. Breakfast was great on both mornings and we look forward to staying here again as its location in Dublin city centre is excellent.

Room Tip: Rooms to the back of the hotel are a little noisey with the Dart but once windows are kept closed no...

I had read the reviews of this hotel after we had made the booking (novice mistake!). The reviews were very mixed and I wasn't stricken with confidence that I had made the right choice, but it was only for two nights and I thought we may as well take a chance. My experience I have to say, it had it's little hiccups, but all in all it was a really nice place to stay.
We had pre booked the car park and I found it a nightmare to get parked outside for my wife to run into reception and advise of our arrival - the car park is not attached to the hotel and needs to be pre booked and the key retrieved on arrival. My difficulty was that the luas and the bus station are right at the door of the hotel and street parking is non existant because of this (also drivers in dublin lack any understanding for someone trying to find their way on the roads).
Although the Luas and the Bus Station seem like a draw back in my situation, the next time i would know the street to take in order to get to the car park and this would not be a hassle, also the close proximity of these public transport services are invaluable when you don't want to use the car on your visit.
When we eventually got parked and into reception, the hotel was very nice, clean and modern. The staff were as friendly as could be expected, and we were checked in quickly and sent on our way to find our room.
To find our room we were upstairs, down stairs, across landings and through small corridors. It was a bit of a hamsters maze to find, but again this should not take away from the overall experience as it only happened the once, and when we eventually found our room, it was a pleasent surprise. It was extremly modern, and spotless clean with tiled floor and bathroom, quite a continental feel.
Next to our room was an outdoor smoking area, a small paved area with an ashtray two seats and a little table (I would imagine this would be very pleasant on a summer's evening with a glass of vino!)
The television channels were quite limited, but we were able to combat this because we had our laptop and the hotel gives 24hrs complimentary wi-fi.
We had came to Dublin to see Biffy Clyro at the O2 and with the Luas right outside the hotel door, it was a great convenience to get about.
The trains could be heard running by from early morning to evening in the distance from our room, and although i could see how they would bother other guests, they didn't bother us and didn't run through the night, which shouldn't disturb sleep.
We had paid extra for the breakfast on one of the days. The dining area is quite small and cramped, although nicely decorated, and clean. I found the cooked breakfast to be a little cold, but I could not fault the array of different foods on offer with breads meats fruits cheeses and more.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay with the Beresford, but can understand why people gave it a little less positive review.
My advice would be to try it. The location and access to Dublin is second to none, the hotel is clean and modern with friendly staff, and the prices are quite competitive. It does have its bad points but I guess they depend on how easily put off you are. I would never settle for the pits but you have to weigh up the pros and cons.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and we would def go back and stay again.

Room Tip: Try and get a lower floor and somewhere near the rear.

This was a great location very near public transportation, a couple of steps away from the airport shuttle, good price compared to everything else in the neighborhood and the room was pretty nice and good sized. Breakfast was not included and maybe a little overpriced but pretty good. My only complaint is the heater/air conditioner in the room was a weird VERY NOISY wall unit and the remote control that ran it had bizarre buttons and no instructions. It was not turned on when we arrived and the room was very cold. Took a while to figure out how to turn on the heat and get it to stay on so the room would heat up. But overall a nice stay - I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask to be far away from the buses and trams that run in front of the hotel

We stayed in this hotel in November, its perfect location (beside Connelly Street station) and also beside the bus station. The hotel is lovely inside, rooms and nice and clean etc.

We arrived on a friday afternoon and stayed for the weekend. After we got to our room we heard loud screeching noises coming from outside. We looked out and sure enough there was a dart station directly opposite our bedroom window. We decided to not unpack just yet and ask at reception what time these trains stopped at. We were informed by Michal that the trains stopped at 11pm and didnt start again until 7am. We said that was ok we could deal with that and went and unpacked. Now Michael was a little sneak and told us some little lies as these trains screeched continuously allllll through the night:( I was not happy with Michal the next morning! We went down and asked at Reception could we be moved as we were kept awake all through the night (this time we asked Mairead) who apologised profusely for our sleepless night and offered us an upgrade to a lovely room for the next night in the Georgian part of the hotel. Meanwhile, Michal came up and said, oh, whats wrong, was it the trains? We said, yes, it was and he said yeah, they do keep people awake! (well Michal you shouldnt have told us little lies then should you) hmmmp. Anyway, we had a lovely nights sleep the next night but were unimpressed the first night.

I did really like the hotel and the location is perfect and i booked this again for my parents and they loved it too. I just made sure i booked the Georgian rooms for them and i would go back and stay in the Georgian rooms too.

Breakfast was not great. Small cramped room, very little on offer and it wasnt very warm. But you cant knock it if its included in the price:) or can you?!

Dear MissAnderson,

Thank you for posting your review after your stay in November 2012. I do appreciate your comments and after having spoken with Michal I genuinely believe it was some sort of misunderstanding. I also feel obliged to clarify a few things you mention. We are within a short walking distance to Connolly however the hotel is not located directly opposite the station as you say. Also, trains do not run all night. The service stops before midnight and resumes around 6 o'clock in the morning. We are based in the city centre and one side of the building overlooks the line. For some guests the level of noise might be a little bit too high but we also offer very quiet rooms at the back of the building.

I am very happy you were able to enjoy the rest of your stay after changing rooms. The next time you stay with us please do not hesitate to contact me prior to your arrival. We look forward to having you again in the near future.

Yours sincerely
