Ranked #23 of 150 Dublin B&B and Inns
Reviewed April 13, 2014

The staff was helpful and welcoming, rooms were clean, free wifi, TV, free tea and coffee in bedrooms. Good location (city center close to busaras station and connolly station and o'connolly street) BUT in my case I needed my earplugs because my bedroom was close to a main street. Anyway with my earplugs I could sleep.
Breakfast was nice. So I recommend this B&B!

We stayed at the Anchor House B&B for 2 nights in January. I would probably rate it 3.5 stars rather than 4, however I think it was better than 3 stars.
We were after somewhere affordable, and after much research this seemed to be towards the lower price range for B&Bs in Dublin- we paid €60 per night for a double room. Overall we were pleased with our choice. The room was simple, but clean and functional- we spent most of the time out and about so really just needed somewhere to shower and sleep in. The bed was comfortable enough, the room was not super spacious, but as we were only there for 2 nights it was fine. We were also in the back building so there was no noise from the street.
Breakfast was included in the cost, they offered a standard cooked breakfast as well as yoghurt, cereal, fruit, tea and coffee. It was a good start to the day. The lady who served us breakfast was really nice and more than happy to chat and offer advice of where to go and what to do etc. Overall, all the staff were very nice.
The location is very good- it was an easy walk into the town center and Temple Bar. When we arrived, we caught the tram from the main station, and it was only a short walk to the accommodation from the tram stop. The bus stop for the bus to the airport is also nearby which was convenient for us.
Overall, the Dublin Anchor house is well priced and well located and a good base for a short stay in Dublin.

Room Tip: If you are after a quiet room, the rooms in the back building are probably quieter as they are not d...

This B&B is downtown and within walking distance to everything. That's the good, and that's it. The owner made a mistake with the reservation and was quick to disclaim the error. Although he did apologize, I suggest that you confirm your stay several times. The mattress is covered in some sort of plastic which makes sleeping noisy; truthfully, the mattress was the worst we experienced in all of Ireland. The room and area is very, very noisy--most of the night. We also found a mouse hole in the window frame. Despite our alert to the front desk folks, the phone and television never did work; no discount was offered. The breakfast is just satisfactory. The Anchor House is an impersonal lodging and the amenities are somewhere between a hostel and Motel 6. Since Dublin bus service is frequent and on time, I recommend you stay a bit out of town and enjoy Irish hospitality.

Room Tip: Look elsewhere.

We do have mattress protectors on all of our beds, but they are not plastic, I am unsure what this could be and will have a look into this.

Anchor House was our first introduction to Irish B&B's. The stay was good and the house was semi-modern for such an old building.
Service was friendly and breakfast was delicious. Secure parking available in rear for an extra €10. Extremely walkable to most major attractions.
Even though our stay was lovely, those looking for a little more affordable place with equal or slightly more upgraded facilities might want to look a little further out of the City Center and use public transportation.

Yes we have a small secure private car park and depending on the time of year this will cost either €10 or €20 per night. As we are so centrally located you will not need a car. If you are going to hire a car wait until the day you are leaving Dublin to pick up.

We are ideally located close to all the top Dublin attractions, we are only a 2 minute walk to O’Connell Street, the Dublin Custom House is just at the end of our street and Temple Bar is only a 10minute walk.

We are a family run B&B in the heart of Dublin and we try to offer guests the best value for money. For best available rates please book direct on our website.

We stayed here at the end of March, and had a lovely visit. The Anchor House does have a bit more of a hotel feel to it due to having an odd layout, but our room was quiet and clean (albeit a bit chilly). The beds were not terribly comfortable, but for the price and location, it was worth staying there. The staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was pretty good!
