Very convenient location, older hotel but decent rooms and has a great bar/lounge for small meals or drinks. Be sure to ask to get one of the renovated rooms for better temperature control options and updated bathrooms.

We didn’t have the best of stays and, for the price, there are plenty of other hotels I would stay at next time I’m in Dublin rather than The Gresham.

STAFF : Our experience of the hotel staff was particularly poor. From the reception staff who didn’t know what rooms they had or what they were to the porters who ignored us heaving two cases around. The breakfast staff were a law unto themselves and seemed to have had training in how to avoid eye contact !

LOCATION : Plus points - the hotel is positioned in a location that has easy access to and from the airport. The bus stop in both cases in only yards away. The hotel is on a street with plenty of shops including ones to satisfy all your (tacky) souvenir needs. Plenty of buses go by to take you to the main tourist sites and the tram is just around the corner.
The downside to this accessibility is the noise. Both from traffic and people - this goes on to the early hours with the drunks getting louder and more plentiful by the hour. There’s also a very noisy bar just round the corner with loud music pumping out.
The hotel, despite being a 4 star, has decided it doesn’t require a doorman so you have to navigate your ways past the tourists, drunks and assorted head-cases who sit on the hotel steps and block the entrance – sometimes quite aggressively. It really isn’t right to feel unsafe when entering or leaving a hotel of this rating.
A doorman would also be nice as they could help open all the doors and give assistance with the luggage instead of leaving it up to you to heave it up the stairs and through the doors.

ROOMS : The newly modernised rooms at the front have air-con but are more expensive. The ones at the rear don’t have air-con so you will need to open your windows, however the noise from the front (and side roads) still carries in and the view at the rear mainly comprises of other buildings and their central heating systems !!
Basic rooms are nothing special. Suites are decent but they should be at the price they charge !! Beware the Junior Suite though as it is just a big room with the sofa & TV at one end and the bed(s) at the other – no separate sitting room as you would expect with a suite.

BREAKFAST : Large, over-heated room (no air-con here either). Buffet style breakfast apart from the tea/coffee and toast which you have to wait an age for. The toast is usually cold by the time you get it. Best to go and get other food items while you are waiting. Basic fare of hot, cooked food mixed with cereals and fruit juices. Fresh orange juice was very nice. You have to be firm in asking for what you want otherwise you’ll get just one of everything from the server at the hot food buffet – so if you want 3 tomatoes or 2 sausages say so !!

All in all we wouldn’t stay at The Gresham again. We actually had a much better stay, and with much friendly and more helpful staff, at the Jury’s Inn Christchurch which was excellently located for many of the sights. The 123 bus is very useful.

Our room was available immediately upon our arrival from the US. Very spacious room. We slept in several mornings, but room was cleaned when we returned in the late afternoon. Bar in hotel was lovely and restaurant was delicious. Great staff. Perfect location.

Close to all the amenities. Good location overall, we walked to most places, guiness factory is about a 25 minute walk, temple bar 10-15 mins, shops, departments stores 5 minutes. A 4 star hotel in all but the fairly basic rooms, they try to sell the newly refurbished deluxe rooms at a supplement, but really te standard rooms should be better for the price, and beds are not soft enough for our taste. But service good, clean, good location overall.

One night here was more than enough; did not get any proper sleep due to the excessive noise from outside and indeed at times within the Hotel. Staff were not overly helpful in the matter, always passing it on to someone else and nobody taking any responsibility.
Room was spacious, could indeed have been better cleaned but bed was comfortable, pitty the noise did not let me sleep.

The hotel is perfectly placed to enjoy Dublin due to it's central location. The hotel building is luxurious and even the standard room was well maintained, cleaned and tidied daily. The dining options were excellent and food well prepared and presented. The staff were very attentive and pleasant and this is what made this stay the best.
To have staff who seem to be enjoying your stay as much as you are is rare indeed.

Booked hotel after reviews on trip advisor. Firstly a fantastic location, the bus from the airport stopped right outside the hotel. Hotel was clean and the room very quiet, the only slight problem we hade was with the "key" it wouldn't operate the door we had to get the guy from reception to open the room. We chose the have the breakfast in the hotel, it was a bit pricey but was an excellent choice, and we didn't need to eat again until the evening!! Staff very helpful particularly the concierge. The Gresham is far enough away from the "nightlife" to ensure a quiet night's sleep but is walking distance from the throbbing Temple Bar
