“Great location and value”
Reviewed January 20, 2013

I found this hotel in Rick Steves 2012 Ireland guidebook and was very happy. I searched around a different places and kept coming back to this one. It was a good choice. It's very close to Grafton Street and yet out of the way from the main hustle and bustle. The staff was incredible beyond words even. Our little, now laughable situation was handled promptly, respectfully and professionally. The buffet breakfast (included in the price if desired) was very nice. Nothing spectacular mind you but traditional Irish breakfast and made to order food from the kitchen as well. My tea was wonderful every morning. Be aware that the bread goes quickly so if you want a croissant get there early! The bar/lounge has very nice (and big) sandwiches. If you like cream in your coffee, remember Ireland's cream is the consistency of American cream cheese haha. The porters are friendly and there are umbrellas handy if you need one. I like the fact that's his hotel has old fashion key for rooms. No worrying about loosing your keys while in the city. That being said there is a trick to opening the doors so be aware of that. There is usually a board near the desk with suggested itineraries from Rick's book. Sundays the National Museum is free. It's nothing too grand but interesting and not far from the hotel. If you have a street facing room be advised the Viking Splash Tour goes by a lot but I never minded it. It was a running joke for our trip. You will also see horse drawn carriages go by as well. You can also hear seagulls too. I found that charming. The bathrooms are moderate but efficient enough.the lobby is beautiful. It's a nice place (or the lounge) to have afternoon tea and look out the windows. Judith, at the desk is exceptional. :)

Stayed here for a concert in Pheonix park. We had arrived in Dublin quite early and our room was ready so we were allowed to check in early. Room had everything we needed. Bar staff were attentive downstairs. Good location!

I've stayed in a number of Dublin hotels, always visiting with family or friends. Out of all the hotels I have stayed in Buswells is by far the best. The location is great, easy walking distance Grafton Street and all Dublins attractions. All of the staff are helpful, mainly Irish and knowledgable if you need any help. The rooms are clean and comfortable with rich burgundy a and cream luxurious bedding. The breakfast has everything you would want and is served in a lovely breakfast room. And the bar is open late for residents if you return from a late night. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend

This was our meeting place for 5 couples who were starting our whirlwind trip of 2 weeks through Ireland. Very accommodating, good breakfast, nice staff and we could walk everywhere in Dublin from the hotel.

We have stayed at Buswells several times, most recently for two weeks in October/November 2012. On the things that matter most to us - friendliness, comfort, convenience , location, "homeliness" - Buswells outranks much more expensive "luxury" hotels. If you want to be comfortable in central city Dublin, well cared for and greeted cheerfully, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: Room 97 (and adjacent rooms ) is solid and quiet, with a bed/mattress for royalty.

Located very centrally to most places you will want to see .The Red Bus route is just round the corner by St Stevens Green.Good restaurant and a full Irish breakfast available.
As would be expected, you are given a good Irish welcome .The hotel has a somewhat mid 1900s feel but this all adds to its charm. Clean and tidy.
When we visit Dublin again we will stay at this hotel.
All in all a nice place to stop at.

Fantastic location on a side street in City Centre just 2 blocks from Grafton st and steps from several museums. The staff could not have been more lovely and helpful and its very affordable for its locale. I agree with other reviewers that the decor needs a major update. My room was not huge but it was clean and the bed was more comfortable than most boutique hotels i've stayed in. My only complaint was the bathroom only had a shower rather than a tub/shower combo and the TV offerings weren't great (in room movies or a premium movie channel would be a plus as I suffer from insomnia) I was there over the holidays and the hotel closes in the afternoon of Christmas eve til the 27th. So if you're traveling during Christmas be aware that they are not open those dates. Otherwise i would recommend staying there if you're going to Dublin for the first time as its location and price cannot be beat.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the back of the hotel and one with a tub/shower combo. Mine only had a shower and...
