Staff was polite. Price was right. Room was large but overlooked street, right next to a bar where people were partying on the street until well after 4am on a Wednesday night. Room was very hot and stuffy. beds were uncomfortable. Hotel in heart of Temple Bar area. Great place for 20 something's on the hostel circuit to stay. Not acceptable for families or grown ups.

Riverhouse is not a familyfriendly hotel, nor is it perfect for lazy days at a pool. There is no pool, the stairs are narrow and the club, the Mezz, downstairs is open until two. But if you like pubs, live music, Guinness and friendly people Riverhouse is perfect! It's situated in the middle of "everything", one can walk to most places, it's affordable, the rooms are ok (but small and a bit damp, but that's what you would expect, isn't it?) and if you get one to the back they're quiet. If you lika music festivals you will love Riverhouse and Temple Bar!

Room Tip: The rooms few stairs up and towards the back yard are quiet, in the front the noice from the street...

Stayed for two nights in the Riverhouse. It's not an expensive place to stay and it is right on the edge of Temple Bar which is the main nightlife part or Dublin. There are several very negative reviews but I didn't find it as bad as I thought it would be. The room was small, but the bed was comfortable and it was clean. There were a few minor things wrong, but nothing that a small amount of time and money wouldn't fix. The hotel has a live music venue on the ground floor but I couldn't hear it from the second floor. The main noise comes from outside, with it continuing until half one - two o'clock in the morning. Bearing in mind it's in Temple Bar, there's not much that can be done about that. The breakfast was adequate but nothing to write home about, but the staff that I met were all excellent. If you intend to visit Dublin to get involved in the nightlife, this place is well worth a look, if you are after a quiet night sleep, don't bother. I will not be going back - but that is not due to the quality of the hotel (I have paid a lot more in far worse places), purely because of the outside noise.

We stayed here for a weekend in Dublin .. To say it was disgusting is an understatement. We were staying in an "apartment" as there were 5 of us. There was no kettle which is the least id expect in an apartment . One of the rooms had a bed in it and nothing else nowhere to hang clothes absolutely no facilities. Beds were old and stained bathrooms were disgusting . One of the rooms was locked when we arrived and couldn,t be opened by us or staff. It took 4 hours for them to get a locksmith to open room which delayed us unnecessarily. For this inconvenience we were refunded €40 to the card on which we booked. They offered us breakfast in adjoining bar one of our party went for it on first morning told us not to bother it also was disgusting. We paid good money to stay here but i definitely wouldnt recommend it. I am from Dublin and would be ashamed to think that people come here on holidays and would think this was the standard we accept as the norm

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

I have mixed emotions about writing this review. The people at this hotel were so friendly and helpful, but i would not recommend staying here if you want to sleep while you are in Dublin. The hotel is right in the middle of the Temple Bar area, which I thought would be a great location, but it's actually only great if you want to party all night every night. The room was your typical tiny european hotel room, bit of a hard mattress, but nice size bathroom. The breakfast however was awesome, traditional Irish breakfast of fried egg, bacon, beans and tomato. You can tell they are used to dealing with the hangovers. Great people, but I wouldn't stay here again.

I will begin with the cold, hard fact that our double room cost us only 64 Euro despite it being high tourist season (end of May) and situated smack in the middle of Temple Bar. This feat allows Riverhouse Hotel to score higher than it would have otherwise given its...uh...dated feel. There's not a lot to like, but some of the hotel's attributes are just enough to get me to consider recommending it. The staff, from the front desk to the cleaning crew, is extremely nice and easy going. The hotel has a small lobby with a left luggage room and has its own breakfast area and residence bar. What's not so great is that the rooms (and most of the facility) really look like they've seen some hard use. The decor is authentic 1985 in most areas of the hotel (and it shows!). Our room had two twin beds which were comfortable enough for one night, but they were showing obvious signs of age as did the rest of the furnishings and the bathroom. But, at the end of it all, where else in Dublin could one find a hotel (not a hostel!) in such a perfect location at such a cheap price? If ever 'location, location, location' could apply as an advantage, Riverhouse Hotel definitely has the advantage. Other reviewers have commented that the hotel is noisy. However our room, on the top floor, faced a small courtyard shared by neighboring buildings and was completely quiet. Riverhouse Hotel is definitely not a place for a romantic getaway or someplace I'd suggest for a family vacation, but for the casual traveler looking for an alternative to a hostel, this might fit the bill.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't face Eustace street!

I would totally go back. It was so bad it was kinda fun.

It was super noisy. To the point where sleep is impossible.

The beds were so uncomfortable. Kind of like sleeping on bed springs with a thin blanket for cushion.

The lift was broken, so hauling our bags up the stairs was lame.

I've heard of people's plumbing not working in the bathrooms. Ours worked fine, however, the condition of the bathroom, I would be surprised if peoples didn't work.

I didn't have a problem with the cleanliness. It was adequate. I doubt it would win any cleanliness awards. Beyond it smelling a bit odd, nothing was "dirty".

The staff and the location were awesome. One of the guys behind the counter is an amateur landscape photographer that can provide amazing entertainment with his awesomely flamboyant accent. Just ask to see some photos of his.

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs.
