We stayed at the Skylon for 3 nights in Sept. before starting our tour. The hotel is located a short bus ride from city centre so we purchased a 3 day freedom pass which allowed us to use the hop-on, hop-off as well the bus system as much as we needed. The Skylon was much nicer than some of the hotels included on our tour. The only complaint we had was the difficulty using Wi-Fi with the ever changing username & password.

The hotel is very well located for both town and the airport.
The staff were helpful, if a little out of their depth at times.
The pay-as-you go internet station wasn't worth the hassle. I put in €1 for 7 minutes thinking that this would be enough time to check in for my flight online. By the time 5 of those 7 minutes had passed the airline page hadn't loaded. Happily the receptionist was very helpful and checked in for me.
The air coach leaves form here at 4.20 and 5.30 in the morning (first two options) and it costs €3 one way.
The bar and the menu on offer there didn't look at all inviting and I've already given the alleged restaurant a review of its own.
Well appointed rooms with clean bathrooms are a plus of this hotel, still I wouldn't go back.

A group of us stayed at the Skylon for a long weekend and had absolutely no complaints. The staff are highly attentive and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Our special thanks go to Paul for a welcome beyond belief! The hotel rooms were clean and comfortable; we also ate in the restaurant one night which was lovely and very reasonably priced. The city centre is within walking distance - if you can manage about a 20-30 minute walk. If not, taxis will cost around 15euro which was fine for us as there was a big group but not so great if there is only 2 of you. Overall we had a very pleasant stay at this little gem of a hotel.

We arrived before 10a.m. and asked if we could drop off our bags as we were too early to book in. Receptionist said he would find us another room that we could get into right away. All staff very friendly and helpful, especially Ruth in the bar.

Dear EinorD,

Reception and Housekeeping work hard to try and have rooms ready for early check-ins so I am delighted that we were able to look after you. Many thanks for mentioning our friendly and helpful staff paricularly Ruth in the bar who is only in her second week with us at the Skylon so lovely of you praise her. We really think that you should come back to the Best Western Dublin Skylon Hotel for your husbands 81st birthday and when you do we will treat you to a four course dinner in our Private Dining Room. See you soon!

Hotel located close to the city centre. Clean hotel and breakfast was good although we had to pay extra for this. Can't fault the place except the wifi system where you need a password every day and the signal isn't very strong. Staff are okay. The hotel is basic but you get what you pay for. Great location for the airport.

Dear LivingTheDream,

Many thanks for taking the time to review our hotel. Our Wi-Fi system is a secure network which does mean that you have to register and then log-on. This takes a little longer than hotels with open networks but you are safe in the knowledge that neither the hotel or other guests can access your information. I hope to meet you the next time that you return to the Skylon.

Regards

Shane

Great choice to start our vacation to Southern Ireland, nice friendly & informative welcome from staff at front desk, well decorated & furnished rooms, great choice of food at breakfast, all cooked to order & situated just a short cab ride from ferry terminal & town centre, also a decent price too !!
All in all a very nice start to our visit to the south,, don't understand the negative comments given by previous customers,, we had American friends traveling with us & they are used to to a high standard of hotel, they did not have a bad word to say on the Skylon,,
Would stay again & have already recomended to other friends,,
A big thank you to all staff & management concerned,,
Keep up the good work,, Cabohome, Chester.

Room Tip: Wait till in Dublin city center to change currency, as nearby Post Office doesn't exchange money...

Staff was very nice and friendly. But this is an old European building so there is no sound dampening insulation. I heard everything in the rooms beside me and anything doing on in the hallway. The room needed a little touch up work on the walls too.

Dear IntTraveler,

I am delighted that you found our staff to be nice and friendly. Please accept my sincerest apologies that your walls were marked. We do have a full-time painter in the hotel and try to keep our rooms to the highest standards. I would suggest that you would be more comfortable in one of our Executive Rooms that are soundproofed at the rear of the building. Please let me know when you are next returning to Dublin and I will make sure that you are allocated the correct room. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Skylon in the near future.
