“Best Location EVER”
Reviewed October 30, 2012 for a stay in July 2010

My husband, 17 year old son and I stayed here in 2009 but at that time Trip Advisor did not allow review of self catering units. This was the best location we have ever stayed and Sean the best host we've encountered in many years of vacation rentals. He gave us a walking tour of the area and we saw the city from his eyes.

The cottage is clean and cozy. It is a small place but smart and comfortable. We rested well in the beds, loved the sheets and comforter. We made breakfast each morning and packed our own lunches - a grocery store nearby provided everything we needed. We appreciated the history of the home and neighborhood.

From this location we could walk everywhere. We could visit for evensong at St Patrick's every evening. Marsh's library became a favorite after meeting Muriel, the Keeper (she has since retired). We took in a play at Trinity College. Even the rose tending neighbor became a friend.

Because this is an intimate space, take advantage of the opportunity to slow down. Greet the city as decades of residents have; on foot, through alleys and over bridges. I will treasure the memories of Dublin as seen from Moffat Cottage for the rest of my days.

“A Special Place.”
Reviewed October 1, 2012 for a stay in September 2012

This cottage was the perfect place for my friend and I to stay. Had always wanted to see Dublin but the cottage made it a very special experience. Small and cosy, full of character and ideally placed. Everything within walking distance but in a quiet secluded spot. Nothing was too much trouble for Sean who met us at the bus stop. Really appreciated the lovely bread, milk and juice in the fridge. You thought of everything Sean. All in all a special cottage and a special owner. And a wonderful holiday. Thank you.

travelled with my 14 year old daughter and friend. I have been planning a visit to Ireland for over a year and found this cottage thanks to trip advisor. Sean was wonderful and even met us at the airport bus at Christchurch stop and brought us to cottage to drop off suitcases since we arrived at 7:30 am local time. We went for breakfast and returned to a clean home that was what I had envisioned for my first trip to Dublin. My daughter loved the loft and made herself at home. It is located on a quiet street but close to EVERYTHING. we walked everywhere ......... St. Patrick Cathedral, Christchurch,Temple Bar, Grafton Street, Guinness Storehouse, St Stephens Green, Trinity College, Dublin Castle, Ha'penny bridge etc etc etc. No more that 10 -20 minutes of walking. The farthest was probably Kilmainham Goal at about a 1/2 hour walk. There is a grocery and liquor store close by for food and drink. Tiny garden off the kitchen to sit and have tea and hear the church bells. The cottage included maps and books of Ireland and Sean even suggested taking the DART to Bray and Howth and a family pass was only 10 Euros for the day. Lovely seaside and fishing villages within 40 minutes train ride. I want to come back to Dublin in the future and will definately try to book this cottage again.

my family and i stayed at moffat cottage from thursday to monday. it took us a while to find it because it was tucked away on a side street. when we got their sean was waiting for us. we had ordered some medical equipment that hadn't arrived. sean was very good and rang the company and in the evening the dropped some off. from the outside the cottage looked tiny. inside it was like the tardis. sean had left tea coffee bread milk sugar toileteries cleaning equipment we wanted for nothing. the cottage was spotless with really comfortable beds and luxury towels and bed linen. you can also park right outside the door. their was a t.v and dvds to watch in the evening. just around the corner is a late shop and a ten minute walk takes you to meath market which is a traditional local market . above all else sean was a lovely host which im sure without his help we would not of received the medical equipment which was pre ordered and very important. so i would just like to thank sean for being so kind and a really gentleman and next time we go to dublin it will be to moffat cottage. we had a lovely time.

“lovely little cottage, close to the centre of Dublin”

The cottage is within easy walking distance of the centre of Dublin, in a quiet little square. It has a double bed room and a single bed in another room. The whole cottage is very small, but very cosy, with fluffy white towels and beautifully laundered white bedlinen.
We had a few conversations via email with the owners Sean and Anne and they had just finished cleaning from the last visitor when we arrived. They were very friendly and helpful and gave us a map of the city, as well as leaving several books about Dublin for our information.
The kitchen was well equipped, with basic supplies such as cooking oil provided, as well as milk, plunger coffee, tea and juice. Anne had also prepared a plate of scones, with jam and butter to welcome us.
We had a lovely stay in Dublin and felt as if we were staying with friends. We left a bottle of wine as a thank you, and Sean emailed us to thank us and wish us well on our journey home.

First of all, if you like us like to live in a authentic environment, in a part of a town where you get away from the crowds but are minutes away from the action - this is a perfect place! Lovely little cottage, warm and cosy, with everything you need from nice beds to fluffy towels. We would definitely stay when we return and Sean, the very nice owner, met up at the house and came back to say goodbye as we were about to leave. In warmer seasons there is even a sweet little patio at the back where you can sit. We loved the place and it met up to all our expections - my teenage girls think it is much more fun to stay in "real" places than in an anynomous hotel and I totally agree! This cottage is one of those places which add value to your stay - we'll be back!

Cottage was very cosy and ideal for a short stay. We liked the quiet location even though we were in the centre of the city, with easy access to all sights and pubs. Best of all was the way Sean made us feel welcome and provided lots of information about seeing and getting around Dublin.
