As a regular user of the flux cafe at the Science Gallery I have to say that overall, the choice of food and pastries and tea and coffee selection is great. It's VERY reasonable which is a big ask in our current economic climate.
However, the service for as long as I have been going there has been shocking. The staff are polite and friendly but it beyond slow. I don't think it's the staff themselves fault, they just seem to be chronically understaffed or poorly managed.
There are buzzers on the tables to request an attendant, the bill or just order coffee, a great idea that I have since noticed popping up in other establishments. However enough was enough this week when at 11 am at peak coffee break time for the surrounding offices and university crowd, having ordered, witnessed two management/senior members of staff sitting down in the cafe having a meeting or coffee or whatever while the other members of staff struggled to attend to and deliver food and drink to an 11 am coffee break crowd.
If the cafe can nail their staffing schedule or employ more staff then this place would be perfect.
