Reviewed December 27, 2013

We stayed here for one week in December 2013. The hotel is exactly what is to be expected in an older, quaint hotel reminiscent of home. There was always a staff member running the front desk which was convenient at times when assistance or help was needed. One particular staff member was very amiable, courteous, hilarious and just downright fun. In addition to his vivacious personality, he was so helpful and the only staff member who seemed to take an interest in the guests visting. Unfortuantely, not one of us remembers his name or else I would put it here :( We wanted to stay close to everything, but not in the middle of the liveliest part of Dublin, such as Temple Bar. At the Harding Hotel, we were within walking distance to all of the main neighborhoods of Dublin but without sacrificing a good night's sleep due to nightlife noise. The room was clean - Mary Poppins would be proud- and very inviting. Despite the cold outside, the room was warm enough without necessitating the heater, though guests have the option to employ the in-room heater. There was some noise until 11pm sharp from the pub next door to the hotel, but nothing outrageous. (If you were to request a room away from the pub, for fear of noise disruption, I'm sure the staff would oblige.) There were many restaurants and cafes nearby allowing us to always find great food easily. Additionally, there were enough shops nearby to satisfy our shopping needs without the use of vehicles. The Hop On Hop Off bus stop is located directly around the corner of the hotel as is the Air Link bus stop, providing guests with optimal sightseeing experiences without the expense. The only downside experienced was the very limited sink space for getting ready. It was small with only a shelf about 1 foot long and 6 inches out and with three women, two of which require contact lense paraphenelia, it was sometimes a challenge getting ready in a hurry.

Our first stay at The Harding was a pleasure. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room and the entire hotel was clean with a homely, relaxed feel. The restaurant provided a good selection of well prepared food, the service was quick and cheerful. The location was perfect for us as we were going to the Olympia Theatre. The Airlink bus stops are very close to the hotel too. Having previously stayed in Dame Street we found the quieter location a positive though were glad of the proximity of Darkey Kellys Bar to give a flavour of that unique Dublin vibe to the downstairs areas, we had a 4th floor room and could only hear the cathedral clock once in our room. For me there are no negatives to The Hardings, it was reasonably priced and good quality in all respects and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would recommend it to anyone without reservation and hope we can visit it again.

First time visitor to the Harding, though stayed in Dublin many times. Excellent place. Ideal location for my business trip to Dublin City Council. Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Room was fine, though main light a bit harsh and CRT telly a bit outdated. Meal in bistro was excellent with very quick, friendly service.

Went into the adjacent bar for a drink. A fantastic range of craft beers from around the world. Heaven! Proves you don't only have to drink Guinness in Dublin. And an acoustic open-mic night for live entertainment. Fantastic, and so much better than the cloying tourist-pleasing music offered by pubs in Temple Bar.

Excellent night's sleep. Much quieter than I thought it may be.

Breakfast was excellent. Tea in a mug rather than a tiny tea-cup. And breakfast cooked to order rather than a congealed buffet as so often seems the case these days.

Would I recommend this hotel? Yes. Will I stay again? Definitely!

Very convenient location, close to main shopping area and major sights, such as Dublin castle, Christ Church cathedral, Dublinia museum. Comfortable, warm rooms, shower a bit fiddly. Staff very accomodating and friendly. On site bistro good value and great Irish entertainment in the bar. Would choose the Harding on our next visit to Dublin. The church bells can be a bit noisy at 3am.

I stayed here for one night with my girlfriend who was visiting Ireland for the first time, and although we didn't spend a whole lot of time at the hotel, I was delighted with the convenient location, the clean and spacious room and most of all, the charming and helpful front desk staff who gave my gf the perfect first impression of Irish hospitality.

Stayed for two nights on my first visit to Dublin. Nice location, very convenient to all the sights. The only complaint is that getting a room on the top (5th) floor subjects you to the weather's whimsy. If it's even slightly windy, you will know all about it. The walls are also a bit too thin, so you can hear the neighbors in the hallway (though not in the rooms). And the last bit of complaining, which might actually prove important in colder days - my room had a shower with the most basic (read: tiniest) of showerheads - basically, taking a proper shower was quite the challenge as the water would hit a couple of square inches of my body at a time.

That said, though, it's a charming property with very nice keepers and a great bargain to boot, so I would definitely give them another look on my next visit - I'll just make sure to ask for a lower floor and check out the shower before going in (unless they are all the same, in which case it will be a game-time decision based on weather).

Room Tip: Anything but the top floor (that's the reason for "average" sleep quality).

I've stayed at the Harding several times now., I keep going back because I'm guaranteed a spotlessly clean room and the hotel is very close to the Olympia Theatre and the Temple Bar district. The staff are always very helpful, on this trip they let me check in over 3 hours early. I had a large room at the back, very quiet and comfortable. The TV had been upgraded to a larger new model since my last visit.
