We stayed for five nights at this hotel. The location is superb. Christ Church, Dublinia, Temple Bar, Trinity College, everything in walking distance. The Airlink Bus stops a few steps from the entrance.
Our room (for three persons) was big and clean. Same for the bathroom.
The Copper Alley Bistro is part of this hotel, a nice place with very decent food at a comparably low price for Dublin standards. It is a quiet place where you can go with small children. We had breakfast there several times, you don't need to pre-book, you just pop in if you want.
The personnel at the hotel and in the bistro has been very friendly and helpful.
Yes, it can be noisy at night on the street and in the bar but if you close the window it is not so bad. We slept well each night.
We will come back to this place next time we visit Dublin.

Room Tip: A room on a higher floor might be preferable if you want to avoid the nightlife noise.

The hotel is situated in good location to everywhere in Dublin - very hand. Can be a little noisy at times as it is on a busy main road but you are very central after all! Rooms are a bit old fashioned but clean and functional. The lift has the loudest fan I have ever heard but this is one of the only things I can complain about - so it is worth booking for the right price.

We stayed at Hotel Harding for two nights. The room was on the top floor with a great view of Christ Church Cathedral. The room was more comfortable than I expected for the price. We took the airline bus and the location was great. We were just steps from Temple Bar but without any of the nighttime noise. Perfect for our desire to visit the bars and still get a night's sleep.

Based on previous TA reviews, we decided to stay here. The good news is the location because it is central to many of Dublin's attractions. The staff is inordinately welcoming and helpful, eager to please. The one exception was the cranky bar tender in Darky Kelly's the day we checked in. Our room was on the 5th floor and we found it noisy at night. If I had to it all over again, I would ask for a room away from the front of the building. When Darky Kelly's closed, the noise from the well-lubricated patrons was intrusive and kept us awake. While the room did have a/c, it was not a/c weather so we had kept the windows open. Did I mention the cathedral bells that rang every hour and half hour? All night long? There was very low water pressure in the shower..it more resembled a warm drool. Still, the location is charming, the rates reasonable, the king size bed, and the staff efficient and friendly...all points that work it this hotel's favor.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the front of the hotel.

Dear maryel998,

Many thanks for taking the time to post a review of the Harding Hotel following your recent visit to Dublin - we appreciate all guest feedback to try and ensure our standards and services are kept to the highest possible levels.

I am glad that you found so many positives during your stay - the hotel staff, the hotel's location and the fact your room had an A/C - but I was also disappointed to read that you found the hotel to be noisy from both street noise and the Cathedral bells (unfortunately we have no control over their time of ringing or their frequency.
From other reviews it has been well recommended by other reviewers and myself in my replies to each review to request a rear facing room and we will endeavour to allocate a room for guests based on their request. Once a room has an A/C they can then have windows shut, keeping out noise and keep cool especially during the summer months.

I would hope that we may have the opportunity to accommodate you again in the near future and allocate you a more favourable room so that you feel completely relaxed and comfortable.

Jonathan Hynes

We arrived at 5:00 AM, so while the day staff were not there, the night manager let us in, advised us on places that had food available at that hour, took control of our luggage so we could leave the hotel.

Our room had a king size bed and a side twin, so would be excellent for a small family. Up it was equipped with iron, ironing board, computer desk, a small fridge and had enough room that you could almost have a scrum berween the bed and the remaining furniture. The rooms do not have A/C which in Dublin, I do not consider a negative, but with global warming might become on. Because of this, you might want to sleep with the windows open, and early in the evening there is considerable conversation on the street.

I have only 2 small tweeks

* put a sign next to the shower (large k ob controls water flow, small one controls temp, 1 is low, 9 is high)
* a rooms that sleeps 3 shouldn't seat only 2. If others think a full configuration of chairs is too many, include a note on the 3rd bed saying "if you want more chairs, dial 0 and we'll bring them.

I recommed this hotel. Very central location, next to Christchurch, next to Temple Bar. A little bit of street noise, but no big deal. I was in the 5th floor and slept with the window open. Room was bigger than I expected, bed was good and wi-fi worked well. Staff was friendly. The hotel has a restaurant at the ground floor, this is also surprisingly good, with home-made food. Compared to the price, this hotel gives very good value.

Was only going to be in Dublin for a short time, so didn't want to fool with commuting from the outskirts to the city center. As it turned out, the Harding hotel was a good choice in this regard. A block south of the river, just across from Christ's Church, less than a half-mile stroll from Trinity College, and just west of the Temple Bar area.
The hotel, though in an old building, seems to have relatively modern decor. Rooms were large and comfortable. No A/C, but not needed since the early-July nights were cool and the windows could be opened. During our short stay, staff was unable to get the property's WiFi working, though aside from that they were nice and quite helpful. The lobby area is very attractive. Interior passageways to the next-door bar (sometimes offering live music) and to the Copper Alley bistro (where breakfast was offered daily).
Note that Lord Edward St./Dame St. is a main drag. Lots of eateries and a couple of late-night "convenience stores" as you walk east from the hotel. Surprising how many well-dressed people were out and about very late at night. I didn't feel uncomfortable in the environment, but like in any big city, one just needs to stay aware of one's surroundings.
Though the hotel's across the street from one of the cathedrals, the church bells were not a problem at all.
Rooms ran us a little over 70 Euros a night. It looks like phone calls from the room were charged as well. Overall, a pretty good stay. We'd overnight there again (hopefully, with WiFi working next time).

Room Tip: Rooms facing Fishamble Street may be quieter than those overlooking Lord Edward street.
