We chose this restaurant after looking on Trip Advisor and we were not disappointed. The dining area is warm and cosy. The menu is quite limited but still varied and there are specials to choose from too. All our choices were delicious. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The area is packed with bars for a drink after our meal. Would definately recommend the Sussex.

Intimate, cozy atmosphere enhanced by peat fire in corner of dining room. Limited menu, well prepared. Charming local waitstaff.

Following great reviews on tripadvisor we wanted to try the Sussex when we were in the area. Lovely place, staff couldn't have been more attentive, amazing food (incredible figgy sticky toffee pudding!) and reasonable price for quality of food and service. Will definately return next time we're in the area.

My husband and I have passed this restaurant many times and had always said we should try it so one evening we decided to pop in. We were welcomed by the very friendly staff and shown to a lovely table in a quiet corner. As there is a bar downstairs draught beers are available which pleased himself who had a big pint of Guinness, I opted for a cocktail special on the menu which was lovely. Fresh bread arrived promptly and the brown bread was delicious. We both opted for the loin of pork which was crispy and not too fatty cooked to perfection. The service was efficient but not obsequious. Worth a try.

Looking for a nice place to eat near the Burlington Hotel, we found The Sussex. On a cold rainy evening, we had the table for two by the fireplace. Our waiter was friendly and the service was great. The soup was steamy hot and delicious. We had fish and chips and both of us agreed that was the right choice. The music was soft and allowed for a nice dinner conversation. The price was not bad at all. We were well pleased with everything.
