“Liffey River”

Make sure you take a walk along the river, both sides. There are many bridges, including the Half Penny and the O'Connell Bridge which is wider than it is long. On one side of the river you are in city center, the other side has the Temple Bar area, Trinity College and several beautiful parks.

“Beautiful River, DIsmal Swamp”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 11, 2013

Most of the time this river is pretty, the centerpirce of a famous city. But apparently its not full all the way back to the Hueston train station. I guess its full during high tide and then its nice. But at low tide, its a mucky, ugly swamp near the station. Dubliners -- clean up the mess. Its horrible

“Not Pretty, but at least it doesn't smell so bad.....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013

Some cities may regard the river they're located on as a "selling point" but it would be hard to view the River Liffey in that way. Yeh, it must surely have contributed to the development of Dublin, but scenically ? I mention the "smell" issue, because not too long ago, the river stank ! To-day it's not so bad. A few years ago someone in authority got the idea of developing a "boardwalk" along the riverside close to O'Connell Bridge - physically it's great, but there are serious issues as regards the intrusive presence of drug-users, so PLEASE visitors be ultra-careful ! Oh yes - you can get a great view of the River Liffey from the centre of "The Halfpenny Bridge".

“Part of Dublin”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

This is not the most sightly site in Dublin, but definitely part of it. The dark river flows straight through and splits the city in half. Lots of stories written about this iconic part of the city (James Joyce) so worth seeing for that - but hard to miss.

“You do not visit as swiming seldom permitted”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 18, 2013

Never dropped into the River so can not really claim to have visited. Enjoyed walking beside it on clear days and night. Admired it new Building and ever changing Quay sides. Love the new Bridges and the different option they provide for cross the River.
It is not as photogenic a sight in lashing rain and biting wind but you know if you are there to morrow the River and it's bank will have a different face and you a different memory of Anna Liffey
