“Don't stay in room 1”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2013

The hotel is well located during daytime but if you want to sleep at night and have room 1, forget about it! We were in Dublin to see a concert. We asked for a quiet room but had room 1 which is right beside reception and at pavement level. Amazingly, the receptionist gave my wife and I pairs of earplugs!! I've stayed in many hotels round the world and that is the first time I've ever been given earplugs! Nice room, bed good, pillow really hard, bathroom good, shower good, all clean, breakfast good. However, what wasn't clear until later was that there are night clubs in every direction and for the Wednesday night we were there, the racket of people in the street was pretty loud...despite the secondary glazing. Oh...and the tram goes right past the window as well! The building is floodlit at night but the curtains to room 1 are not blackout, so if you can't sleep in a light room, it makes it even worse! So a real shame ...the hotel is otherwise Ok. We were only staying one night and our rock concert was so fantastic that we just shrugged and took the awful night as part of our experience...and will look back with a chuckle at being given earplugs!!

Room Tip: Not room 1 or 2. Don't have a room facing the road

My wife and I stayed for 1 night , thank goodness . The hotel has a great location for central Dublin , but the street is a bad location for a nights sleep. There are 5 night clubs and even though we were top floor and at the rear , the sound still came through . Now it was a Wednesday and we thought we might be ok , as we have stayed in this street (Hardcourt St.) on a Friday, and we thought never again , but definitely never again. The hotel was freshly painted and clean room and overall a clean hotel.
If I was 30 years again then I would stay out until 4pm and think great hotel, getting to bed when the music stopped.
Breakfast was fine for the B/B rate of €104 we paid.
So ,for the young or bring your own ear defenders.
5 minutes walk from Grafton st, the famous shopping street.

This charming Georgian style hotel was perfect for our short stay in Dublin. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However, we had a room at the front of the building which overlooked the road and tram lines which seemed to roll past the window all night! There's also a couple of nightclubs opposite which wouldn't help the level of noise. It's a shame as the rest of the hotel is lovely.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel to minimise noise at night.

Stayed in July.
Rooms are functional & small but reasonable.
They were very warm though - and the weather was also very warm.
Our room was at the front of the building which meant that if we wanted to open a window you had to sacrifice sleep - the noise from the street below was unbearable.
There was a fan in the room which could be turned on with a light switch but the light would not go off.
We visited mid week - due to the lack shear noise we would never stay there again.
We had previously stayed down the road in Dicey s where we didn't experience that level of noise at all.

Room Tip: If you can get a room at the back you will still need ear plugs

I kind of hate to rate this hotel as just average because it was nice in every way except that we couldn't get any sleep! As mentioned in other reviews, there are nightclubs across the street and down the street- with singing, screaming, breaking glass and the honking taxis!!! We wondered where the police were!!! We kept the windows open as long as possible as it was quite warm but even when closed (and there were two panes of glass), you could still hear it. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you plan to join those at the nightclubs.

This is a pretty good hotel however there is a night club across the street that is open from 10:30 pm to the wee hours of the morning. We had a room at the front of the hotel and between the tram going back and forth all night and the screamers and horns honking at the club all night it completely ruined our sleep even though we wore ear plugs. We had to sleep with the window open because it was so hot in the room. We requested a move to the back of the hotel the next day and it was better because you didn't hear the street car but you could still hear lots of loud voices and music.
The internet did not work in our room and we had to go down to the lounge to use our computer. They do not have a computer for their guests to use for free, there is a charge per minute to use it.
The breakfast was just average, nothing special.
If they could move the night club it would be a very good place to stay. No air conditioning or facecloths.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel.

With an excellent location, clean room, great wifi, friendly staff, good breakfast, what more could you need? Will definitely stay here again when we return to Dublin. Convenient to the Bleeding Horse Pub, and Grafton Street.
