Albany House
Ranked #63 of 150 Hotels in Dublin

Main reason for me to stay at Albany House was the good rate that was offered through the internet - and value for money did turn out to be okay in the end. Rooms are pretty small with narrow beds, my room even was in souterrain with a window facing the backyard. However, rooms are clean and the service staff is very friendly. Breakfast room has atmosphere and the choice for breakfast is alright.

We jumped ship from a B&B called Number 31 to The Albany House and found the accomodations comfortable, clean and (when not overlooking the street) quiet. The breakfast is not a hot meal nonetheless, quite ample, w/ breads, fruits, yogurt, cereals, juices and coffee/tea. The security seems sufficient with the front desk attendant able to see the front door and "buzz" folks into the lobby. Yet the neighborhood appeared safe.
There was a fan running all night (perhaps in the room next to our room which was unoccupied) which was mildly annoying when it came time to sleep. This could be a way to keep the baths in the unoccupied rooms from getting stale/moldy as we found our bath fan running when we entered our room after it was cleaned. Also, no top sheets on the beds (We had 2 rooms w/ 3 beds total) What is up w/ that? Noticed the same approach at the #31 B&B. But one phone call and we had sheets that were perfect. Our room was a bit warm for sleeping but the window opened nicely and cooled us quickly. Bathroom ammenities were perfect and not over nor under stocked with the shower providing a clean, bright "cushy" cleanse. Towels were plump, absorbant and soft.
The bed was huge, clean and comfortable, with nice, non-feather pillows. Great for those w/ allergies. No odors in the room or in the hotel noted. No noise noted in room during breakfast service.
The hotel front desk staff tries to provide many services. But concierge type services were weak. But, no worries because the hotel is less than a "slow" 10 minute stroll from some quite high-end hotels where one can get all the info needed and then some.
Great location one block from St. Stephen's Green. Parking..none. But if you are smart, you won't have a car in the city.
All in all, this is a dandy place to plop your bags and head for a travelers respite. What they offer, they do well.

This location is perfect for being able to walk to all of Dublin's attractions. It's a 'boutique hotel' with 24 hour desk & buffet breakfast. Our room was on the lower level at the front - not great for street noise & chair scraping at breakfast above, but we were so impressed with the size & quality of the room that we didn't ask to be moved! (the noise wasn't too bothersome for us). We found the staff pleasant & attentive and have recommended this hotel to several friends already.

We were surprised at how nice this hotel was. The room (#25) was large as was the bathroom, and breakfast was included in the price. There was free wifi. It's a short 5 minute walk to Grafton Street and right next to St. Stephens Green. Had it not been for our other hotel's cancellation policy, we would have stayed there our entire stay in Dublin. Albany House was literally half the price of our other hotel.

This is a perfect little hotel within a couple of minutes walk from a load of bars, Stephen's Green, Grafton Street, The Luas and sits exactly where you want to be in Dublin! I can't believe it's so far down the list when i see some of the hotels above it!
I'm from Dublin though haven't lived there for five years or so, and have stayed in quite a few hotels there now. There's a tonne of nightlife within about five minutes of the hotel, all the shopping you could want and great links for getting around on the doorstep.
The hotel itself i've stayed in now a few times and has a slightly varying standard of room (it's an historic house), some fantastic, and all very nice at the least. Staff were all excellent. I never had a problem and although i knew where i was going etc.. they were always helpful with any request i did make. I never made breakfast so can't comment on that.. i believe it was continental only but not sure.
For the price, i have never been able to find a better located or value for money hotel for my visits back to Dublin, and will definitely stay there again.

Most of the budget guest houses/hotels in Dublin are of a very basic and somewhat run-down standard so I wasn't expecting much when I checked in here with 20 mins notice on a Saturday morning. The friendly guy on reception had my room ready at 9.30am (I rang for a room at 9.10am) and though I had to walk up 4 floors of stairs, I was especially surprised when I got to the room. A key card door opened to a beautiful large room as clean as any four-star hotel I've ever been in. The bathroom was spanking new, as were the beds and linen it seemed. The room faced away from potentially noisy Harcourt Street and it's fair to say the bed was of the most comfortable variety. I slept like a log. All round, a really pleasant surprise so close to Dublin city centre.
