“A gem in a quiet neighborhood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2013

After staying in downtown hotels in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast, Aberdeen Lodge was a welcome change. It is located on a quiet street in Sandymount, but the bus stops a few houses away, and the DART train is just a short walk. We were welcomed warmly upon our arrival and the service only got better from there. Our room was spacious, well appointed and clean. The owner was friendly and chatted with each guest at breakfast, answering questions and providing suggestions on sights to see. The Lodge is a family run business and service is their top priority. The owner's nephew, who is learning the business, could not do enough for us. As dinner is not served at the hotel, we took to stopping at the local market and bringing home a light dinner. This young man would set up a table for us in the garden where we could enjoy our meal and relax after a busy day. The local restaurants and pubs were lovely too, and just a short walk away. We enjoyed walking to them via the sea wall overlooking Dublin Bay which is only a block away. I will definitely return to the Aberdeen Lodge the next time I visit Dublin.

We recently spent a couple of nights in this wonderful place. Our suite was a dream!! Hosts are so nice and helpful with any information you may need about your stay in Dublin. The house is located in Ballbridge, which is conveniently linked to the city centre (DART station is few minutes walk from the b&b and in four stops you get Pearse station). We would like to thank Pat and Ann and we would surely recommend it!

We attended the Dublin Horse Show in the RDS Dublin as we do each year. We could not get booked into Bewleys Hotel so ended up staying in Aberdeen Lodge Park Avenue Dublin. We were told at time of booking it would be a ten minute walk to the RDS. We were extremely disappointed when we discovered this was not a ten minute walk and was more like a 20 minute walk therefore we had to rely on taxis to take us to and from the show at a cost of approx 20 euro per day. The room cost 170 euro per nite which was a total robbery and disgrace. This was only a B&B and not a hotel. There was no tea making facilites in the room and only two channels could be got on the tv. We had no choice but to stay in this place but I certainly would not recommend anyone to book this thinking they were right beside the RDS. It is disgraceful that any b&b establishment in Dublin can charge 170 euro per night. This is something the tourist board in the Republic of Ireland should be looking at.

My wife and I stayed for several days at this charming hotel during our stay in Dublin and really enjoyed it. Located not far from the city center in a quiet neighborhood, this B & B is walking distance from the sea, local rail line, and neighborhood town center where you can visit the local pub and crawl back home.

Upon our arrival we were ushered into the living room and offered tea / coffee and then moved up to our room. The room was nicely decorated with vaulted ceilings. The bed was cozy.

Breakfast in the morning was very good with a nice selection from breads and cereal to an Irish breakfast.

I stayed at Aberdeen Lodge in July 2013 and had a really wonderful time. The staff is extremely helpful and has a high sense of service, the hotel is very fresh and the breakfast is to die for. It feels like a home away from home and I would recommend it to everybody.

Lots of love from Sweden.

Extremely comfortable, hospitable, quiet, and charming. Michael Halpin is a very good host, and his staff was terrific. (Thanks, Daniel!). Four of us stayed for several days, and every afternoon or evening Daniel saw us coming he readied the whiskey glasses and ice for us. A fine lad! Mr. Halpin was also very helpful to me in January when I made the reservation, by suggesting other places to stay during our golf junket. And his major suggestion was the only place we stayed that compared with his. This is a very nice B&B hotel, exactly what we wanted, and not a major hotel with all services. But they are really good people. When I reserved I also booked our last night before flying back to the States with them. And then I asked whether they could stow our golf cases for us until we came back through, so the car would be a bit less crowded. Not a problem! An altogether good place to stay. A brisk walk through a leafy residential neighborhood from the hotel into Sandy Mount for several nice dining options, or a shorter walk to the rail stop for an 8 minute commute to Trinity College area for sightseeing and more dining and pub choices. Thank you, Aberdeen Lodge, for getting a great trip off to a great start!

Room Tip: I'm not sure there is a bad room in the house, but don't be shy about asking for some help l...

I can honestly say that this B&B and their staff made my vacation, it was the icing on the cake. For starters, the location was perfect. It is located in a residential area, yet within minutes you can find yourself in the center of all the action in Dublin. The place itself was very quaint and looked as if everything was out of a painting. Words can not fully describe how wonderful and accommodating the staff was. They were all so warm and welcoming. Anytime I needed anything or had a question they were more than happy to assist me. I am so happy
that TripAdvisor helped me find this place and I will definitely be going back!
