The Charles Stewart Dublin

Reviewed July 4, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here when I visited Ireland for the wales 6 nation game. Considering prices in the area rise during the rugby we had a bargain with the Charles Stewart based on it's location in the centre of Dublin.

Easy walking distance to the shops and about 10-15min walk to temple bar.

They provide parking but only on a weekend as the car park is used by a school I think next door during the week.

Full cooked breakfast in the mornings was nice, also had a choice of cereals and fruit.

Only slight negative was the rooms. It had plenty of space just needs some improvements ad they are quite dated. But when you consider the price paid and location the positives certainly outweigh the negative.

The location was ideal for airport access - with Airlink stopping just a 5min walk from the door. A walk into the heart of the city, e.g. Temple Bar took about 15mins. On arrival and throughout my stay, staff were friendly and helpful and even carried my bag up to my room on the 4th floor!
Positives - spacious, clean room, great breakfast, comfy bed, friendly, helpful staff, well-appointed, functional furniture, perfect location.
Negatives - tiny bathroom, no toiletries, no packed breakfast option if you need to leave early, no bin for sanitary waste, noisy at times - very poor soundproofing, WiFi didn't always work in my room, poor TV reception

Overall, good value for money in an excellent location. I'd consider returning next time.

Not only have my husband and I stayed at the Charles Stewart on numerous occasions, we have referred several friends there over the past few years. All of us have been delighted by the location, the friendly, helpful staff, clean rooms, and the cooked-to-order full Irish breakfasts. This guesthouse is actually two converted Georgian houses, so the layout of the place is more quaint than modern, and because it is right on the bus route for O'Connell Street, there is plenty of street noise. But if you want great value in the heart of Dublin, this is THE place for you.

Room Tip: Rooms in front are large (part of the original Georgian house), but have street noise. Rooms to the...

We recently stayed here on a hen party. There was a smell of drains on arrival in reception. The hotel is very dated, the rooms are disgusting. would not stay here again!

The hotel is located really on O'Connell Street which is a great location for catching public transportation or tour buses. There were lots of pubs with great food within walking distance. The hotel is older, could use some updates to the rooms but they were clean and the staff was extremely helpful. There is no parking available during the week but there is a parking lot not far and they discounted for hotel guests.

We went on a hen party and hired 4 seperate rooms for 2 nights, the 1st room was a disgrace but they had to stay in it for 1 night because they hadn`t any rooms left. The 2nd room, rain leaked through the ceiling and the noise from all the plumbing could be heard from 5am. The 3rd was dingy and cramped and was next to the firedoor which was banged all nightlong. The 4th was on the front of the hotel and the window wouldn`t shut so every bit of traffic noise and arguments could be heard. We only had breakfast on the 1st day it was ok.The staff were friendly enough you can`t blame them for a very run down hotel. It was within walking distance of the city centre. We loved Dublin but would never ever stay here again and wouldn`t reccomend it. We all travel regularly and all found this hotel! terrible seriously book elsewhere
