Owner description: Beautiful urban park immortalized in James Joyce's "Ulysses."
Reviewed March 27, 2013

Our hotel was near to this park and we walked through it everyday to get to Grafton street. The weather was gloomy our entire visit but the park was still a sight to see. The paths are well maintained, as are the fountains and statues. A good place for people watching, if that's your thing. Locals walk their dogs and bike down the paths on their way to work. Visitors feed the swans and ducks at the pond. There is a playground for children, insolated by a ring of foilage, which blocks out much of the noise. I can imagine how beautiful it would be in spring, and wish I could return then!

In the middle of dublin one has this little oasis of green, but thats about it. There is a small pond and not much else, you walk in one end and out the other. There is the occasional historic statue to take a picture with but skip it if you want to.

I even appreciated the gardens in the freezing cold but the beds were so beautifully tended and layed out

I stayed right across the street in the Fitzwilliam Hotel and found myself sitting on a bench, drinking my morning coffee and relaxing in St. Stephens Green each morning. It's a beautiful park and shouldn't be missed when visiting Dublin.

An oasis off the shopping centre of Dublin, an easy stroll. Sit on the many benches and enjoy the flowers, the ducks on the ponds, music in the bandstand, and the people relaxing on the grass if the sun is shining. Watch Dublin passing before your eyes & absorb the atmosphere as you walk along the pathways & enjoy the well-manicured grass areas & flower beds. Perfect place for time-out and fresh air.
