Its a bit of a crazy place at night, loads of young people out on the town. Its a typical big city night spot, loads of bars and takeaways but really good atmosphere. Lots of traditional style Irish bars serving Guinness and playing live music.
Not for the timid.

I am involved in the entertainment / tourist industry and am regularly at the meeting and greeting end of things. When asked about Temple Bar, I give my honest opinion and say, go there and come back and tell me what you think. I believe people have to experience something in order to comment upon it. Bearing in mind that we as a country rely heavily on the tourist industry, I think it is a great pity that quite a lot of the drinking and eating establishments in this area seem to have carte blance to charge what they like. In some of these bars the price of drink goes up on the hour after 11pm.
It is true that most capital cities have their own versions of Temple Bar, more's the shame, but, I suppose the only way to become a seasoned traveler is to experience these places and acknowledge them for what they are. The big welcoming smile and the knife in your back!!

For a place that is meant to be the 'Tourist Trap' of Dublin, this filthy kip leaves alot to be desired. If you're a fan of street brawls, puke groups, getting hassled by beggars and flashing blue lights then this is the plac for you... if not, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!... And I'm From Dublin!!

it's the usual area like in any city: created to lure tourists and that's who you'll find on the crowded streets. Lots of young people having a fun time. Stores in the area have exactly the same things you can find anywhere. Very overpriced, mediocre food.
Suggest you eat somewhere else, then come here for a pint and listen to the live music with everyone. Kinda fun if you're in the mood for it all.

Always a great night if you can avoid the Stags/Hens. The Auld Dubliner has great music for the younger patrons and you certainly need a full wallet. Other bars have more traditional music and this can also be found outside Temple Bar where it's a little easier on the [pockrt.
