From the second you walk in this is a traditional Irish pub. We had drinks and food. The beer was of course delicious. Had a great pale ale. All the food we ordered was amazing. The Guinness and beef stew was outstanding. Even their homemade soups were delicious. We actually went back for dinner after having lunch first day in Dublin. We went with our two daughters and parents and everybody was very friendly to us.

Oldest pub in Ireland , very cool place. Steeped with history and lots of old pix and stories. We only had drinks but would def go back again and recommend it to anyone wanting true pub experience. Cheers

Very nice atmosphere including pretty young people, live performance and open quite late in the night for a pint.
Attractive and pleasant open space ("patios")
No food after 10.30 pm. The pub we have liked more in town for the night

The place itself is worth a visit, but avoid eating there. According to our experience of two failed portions, eat somewhere else. We ordered Open Steak Sandwich and Thai Style Chicken Curry. The steak was supposed to be a sirloin steak but it definitely was not. My curry was supposed to be somewhat spicy (according to the waitress), but I could not find any traces of spicyness in it. To fix that, I was brought some tabasco...

We went to this place because how can you pass up the oldest pub in Dublin! We were luckily able to get a seat at a table for the five of us, and two others were sitting at the end. It was very crowded but once we got seated, our service was great. The food was good and the wait staff came by at just the right times. You do need to watch where you walk as the entryway and the bar area will get wet because of the rain. We were a little surprised to be told to seat ourselves, and proceeded to wander from room to room to find a spot, but like I said we got a table. The hallways are small and there are steps into probably every room, so watch out for that. We were not there for any music, but our visit was good.
