The Shelburne Dublin is a very fine hotel situated directly across from a beautiful park and not far from all the sites in Dublin. I have stayed there numerous times and always found it to be a very good business and holiday hotel. The rooms are large, but they are a little worn at the edges and dark in appearence. The staff is great, but during my last visit they seemed to totally ignore the fact that I'm Platinum Elite with Marriott Rewards. If they don't want to get with the program; maybe management should consider changing their franchise? The bar is a great place to relax and meet business associates before dinner (many fine restaurants near the Shelbourne). I had breakfast one morning at the hotel with associates which was first class, but pricey. I was asked if I wanted the a newspaper, but was told I would be charged for it?? For what I paid for breakfast, the newspaper should be gratis. I'm going to be in Dublin on May 9th/10th, but will be giving The Westbury Hotel a try; which is a little closer to town center and hopefully more customer friendly.
