Paramount Hotel Temple Bar
Ranked #65 of 150 Hotels in Dublin
Reviewed July 1, 2013

my son arranged a night for me and my husband for 1 night in the paramount hotel as abirthday gift. We arrived at 3.00 and reception were absolutely lovely. headed out to explore Temple Bar which was buzzing. we came back to get ready to go out the room was lovely and spacious with a nice bathroom and nice big towels. off out into the night , had a great night and came home quite late with large consumption of drink. 5.0 clock still awake because of noise outside our window, late night revellers hundreds of them, 7.30 the road sweepers started. I appreciate we are in a city but room 109 needs double glazing, everything else super

Room Tip: maybe a room off busy street as sleep really was impossible

*** Positives first ***
Check in was good and easy, and room was ready for us an hour earlier than expected,
First impressions good hotel, clean.
Room was spacious and also clean.
We didn't have a safe in the room, so asked at reception for one. When came back 2 hours later there was one in the room for us.
Breakfast was 'okay' if it wasn't included in the rate we had, then I would go elsewhere. 9€ for a croissant, some plastic cheese and some packet ham..... not so good. But my husband loved his Irish fry-up!
Reception also helped us get a taxi

*** Negatives ***
We had heard that the hotel was loud, so we thought we'd be clever and take earplugs..... HA!!!! how wrong we were!!!!. its not the loud music that was the problem, it was the Reverberating bass lines of indistinguishable drum and bass songs that SHAKE you awake! We went to bed at midnight after an extremely long day with travelling, and at 00.30am the bass going through the walls actually woke us up. and it finished at 3.00am approx. I do not know how there are not cracks in the plasterwork on the walls. Shocking.
2nd night we were later home after attending a concert at Slane Castle, but again the shaking didn't stop til around 3am.

So I can weigh it up by saying that the rate for the room was good, its in a good location for bars and restaurants and for walking to tourist attractions. But the shaking does not make up for it. I would not recommend this hotel at all, and would certainly not stay here again. Its a shame as the rest of the hotel would be perfect other than that.

Room Tip: No idea about rooms, but avoid 102!

We were warned about the noise in this hotel by previous reviews and thought, "How bad can this be?" We booked it for the location which was fantastic, but the noise made it miserable. Despite sleep with white noise on my phone as loud as it would go, you could still hear cars driving by, people singing in the street, and even the traffic signal beeping when it was safe to walk. This hotel needs to install new sound proof windows and also fix the wireless as it only worked in certain parts of the room. Again, the location is fantasic and the staff was great!!

stayed here for one night it was only OK we were in a hobble so it did the job but that's all. staff were very nice and gave us a discount as we checked in so late even though they knew we had no other choice and they could have charged us more so that was really helpful. unfortunately the hotel itself is dark and gloomy our room was tiny nothing like the picture above. I would imagine this hotels best asset is its location but in my opinion is only suitable for people going out on the town who literally just want anywhere to lay their head. top marks for staff though very helpful.

Room Tip: ask for a large room

Just spent a weekend in Dublin at the Paramount Hotel Temple Bar. The Hotel is well situated the rooms are good and clean, the price is OK, but if you don't want to Disco until 3 am don't go.
Clubs left and right loud and long hours, the bass will shake your bed and the departing crowds will do the rest.

We stayed here four 4 nights. Location good, bus stops (airport/ hop on hop off f.i.) near by. Breakfast at Queen of Tarts also nearby. Beds are OK, warm in the room, price quality average. Close to bars and restaurants. Nice hotel for a city trip when you only sleep there.

The Paramount Hotel Temple Bar was in a prime location, but it may have been a bit too prime. Our room was directly above a bar (and across the street from a couple of others), and the loud music and rowdy people out all night were not good for sleep. The king bed was uncomfortable, and since it was just two mattresses pushed together rather than a true king sized mattress, cuddling was nearly impossible over the ridge in the center of the bed.

The room was a good size though, and the bathroom was nice enough. Small tv, but that wasn't an issue for us.

We could not get wifi in our room at all, and we ran into other travellers in the lobby or stairwell who had the same problem. The front desk said it should work throughout and reset the router, but it didn't help. They acted like it was all news to them, but based on many other reviews here, it was a common and frequently reported problem.

Room Tip: Go to a higher floor on the lobby side of the hotel...I don't know if they wifi is any better or...
