“Generous portions of tasty food”
Reviewed October 13, 2011

Booked a table here, as it can be very busy. Unfortunately 3 of us were squeezed onto a small table for 2, very difficult to have 3 plates and glasses on at the same time. We have been here several times before and knowing the portions are substantial only one of us had a starter. The "pint of prawns" were great and enough to share. We all had the fish which was great. Differing opinions over who thought theirs was better the Seabass or the hake. But all very good. Even though we really didn't have space, we decided to squeeze in desssert. This let the meal down, had expected the Lemon meringue pie to be warm, but was still ok. Chocolate mud cake was not a mud cake, very disappointed by this. The coffee was good. Unfortunately drank the water bought to the table, which didn't taste too good and later two of us suffered from it. Pretty sure it wasn't the food. Would go again but order bottled water. €110 for 3 main course, 1 starter, 2 desserts, 1 coffee and a nice NZ bottle of wine.

“Don't know what the fuss is about!”
Reviewed September 27, 2011

I had the breakfast for champions, one slice of toast and no tea. Food was very slow being delivered, blamed it on a medium steak! Food wasn't even great and very bad value for money. I'd Reccomend givin it a skip.

“Wonderful food but setting might not be to everyone's taste”
Reviewed August 27, 2011

Judging from the other reviews, Juniors seems to be a difficult place to get a table. We were lucky - we wandered in after failing to get a table at Juniors' sister restaurant, Paulies. The waitress took our number and rang us about 15 minutes later to say that she had a cancellation. We had crab bruschetta to start and it was wonderful. Shredded crap, simply prepared with seasoning and fresh-tasting tomatoes. The sea bream in "crazy water" was skillfully prepared, well seasoned, well cooked....on the salty side but pleasantly so. The clam linguine was plentiful and satisfying. The setting might be a bit stressful for some people. The tables are very close together and not all that sturdy. However, we really, really enjoyed our meal and have been told that we are somewhat picky. The "pint o' prawns" starter looked amazing and to be more than enough for two people. Hope to return to give it a try.

“Service is crap!”
Reviewed August 14, 2011

I've wanted to try this place for so long, it is so difficult to get brunch here as it is always packed, so my expectations were high. Went in there a couple of minutes after they opened, and there were already a couple of tables occupied. I ordered for french toast and hubby had breakfast for champions, 2 coffees and a glass of lemonade, and the waitress asked, homemade one? and i thought, yeah the ones from the menu, oh well whatever...What got me pissed was, we were sitting there waiting for our orders like eternity while 2 tables that came in after us got theirs first! I named this to the waitress and what she said was, We only have one chef you see. Fair enough, but how come they got theirs first when we ordered the same thing?? We ordered for two more cappucinos and got tired of waiting for it that we asked for the bill and left, and she didnt even remember the cappucinos!! What a horribly bad service! We live in the Gasworks and will never go back there again, and will never recommend this place to friends and colleagues! French toast in herbstreet is way way better!
