“Quiet location with luas line out front for town”
Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

Very clean modern and open building right next to the O2 so really handy for concerts. The Luas line immediately outside means easy access to town if you don't fancy the 20 mins walk along the river . The Aviva stadium is close too.
The only downside for me was the reception setup, which at busy times can appear to be a bit a queue waiting for a bus! The staff themselves were friendly and helpful when you eventually got to them but as we had prepaid and were simply waiting for a car park ticket we found ourselves at the end of a long queue. As I say that was a minor point because overall the hotel is well priced, ultra trendy and quiet at night(really important to us older ones who don't want to party all night). Well recommended for anyone who wants to be slightly out of town.

This was my second vacation trip this year to Dublin and we stayed again at the Gibson Hotel. The staff is excellent, the rooms clean, modern and very comfortable. With the Luas light rail right outside the front door it is very easy to get into town. It is a 10 minute drive from the airport and has a car park in the basement of the hotel so if you are driving around Ireland and have a car this is the perfect place to stay in downtown Dublin.

I stayed at The Gibson Hotel at the beginning of October and found it to be a lovely, friendly and reasonably priced hotel. The room was spacious and the shower was amazing!
The Luas (Dublin's tram) is literally outside the door with a 6 minute journey into the city centre.
The last tram gets back to the hotel at 12.30am so that was perfect for us.
The area around the hotel has a kind of unfinished look about it but certainly takes nothing from this hotel. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and although slow-ish the breakfast was really good.
We will most certainly be visiting The Gibson again.

Just back from a very enjoyable stay in The Gibson Hotel. I would give this hotel 10 out of 10, could not find any fault whatsoever. We attended the J-Lo concert in the O2 so The Gibson was so convenient right opposite. We arrived at 11am and were delighted to be told by the lovely girl on the desk that our room was ready. The bedroom was lovely, bright, spotless and so comfortable. We had lunch in the bar both days which was great and the bar staff were very friendly and helpful. Included in our package was an evening meal which I must say was the best I have had in a while. The restaurant staff were very friendly and professional. The breakfast was gorgeous and the variety of food on offer was brill. Also the Luas stops right outside the hotel which couldn't be better.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel especially if attending a concert in the O2

I stayed with my other half for a concert at the O2. We were very impressed. The hotel feels very new and modern, clean and welcoming. Lunch and breakfast were very good and the room is great. It was a real treat being so close to the concert venue, takes away a lot of hassle. We would stay again for definate.

Lovely stylish hotel...very contemporary. Lovely bar and restaurant...breakfast very nice and good selection. Love the hotel's environmental policies. Opposite O2 concert venue and alongside Luas tram system- less than 10mins on luas to city centre (3.50 euro return).

On a negative, we stated we wanted room away from lift/elevators. However, one of our rooms was the 1st room on the left when you turned left outside the lifts. On the 1st night, we were woken a few times from people talking outside the lift. The 2nd room our group booked was at the end of a walkway on the left of the lifts, again we were woken a number of times by people talking while they walked towards the bedrooms. The receptionist that checked us in was efficient but quite clinical and as a result we didn't report the room issue.

While its a lovely hotel, the noise from passing guests would put me off staying especially when we were put in rooms that we stated in our booking, we didn't want to be near. However, we do accept that we did not report this to the hotel and therefore they were not in a position to remedy the issue. There is no sauna, steamroom, jacuzzi or pool and that would affect my decision also. However the hotel does have treadmills, rowers and cross trainers.

If you want to be near the O2, this is the ideal venue but its approx 20mins brisk walk to the city centre and that may affect some people. Within ten minutes of the Financial Services Centre so good location for those attending meetings. This area has seen huge developments over the past ten years and a lot of cafes and meeting venues nearby. However, some blocks in close proximity are derelict as building work has not yet been completed or has stopped due to recession. Would be good to check with hotel to see if building work recommences as this could affect your stay.

Room Tip: Avoid staying near lifts...mid way down hallways would be better
