if you travel for business or hope to fall sleep soon after midnight, this is the worst choice.
noisy because of the pub music and crowds until late in the night, the best earplugs are completely useless. the problem is not the people having fun in the pubs or the streets but the fact that there is no communication or warning in advance from the staff.

Thanks for your feedback! I am so sorry you had a bad nights sleep. We are striving to improve the quality of sound proofing within the confines of our unique historic building. We have amended our guest check in registration form based on your experience . As our guest we want everyone to have a successful ,enjoyable stay . When booking express a preference for a "quieter " room. We are located in the heart of the Creative Quarter in Dublin City Centre with a great choice of restaurants & bars . Did you know that Hogans Bar beside Kellys Hotel is one of the oldest authentic Irish Pubs dating from 1897? Karin

We stayed here for one night on July 18th, its an excellent location, just a short walk from Grafton St., Powerscourt etc. Within walking distance of the bus from Galway :). The room was ready at 1pm when we arrived, lovely comfy bed and nice efficient staff.

Stayed for one night that was pretty much enough to be honest it was ok but the bathroom was very small, clean and tidy room so can't moan really it was a bit like a rabbit warren got lost on a few occasions ha !! Very quirky hotel the noise didnt bother me as we knew about that i slept through it and that was without ear plugs, the bottled beer was expensive 6euros for a dinky bottle but its an expensive place hence why i only had one... i would stay there again for a night but not longer the staff were nice and friendly check in was straight forward..... its in a great location which is probably better for the younger lot :) for the bars and shopping.

Hey Stevie Thanks for your response. Kellys Dublin is a 16 bed Boutique Hotel , we like to think the layout adds to the style & intrigue. Breakfast is served downstairs in our award winning restaurant l'Gueuleton on Fade St. We are located in the heart of the entertainment district in the Creative Quarter of Dublin. Its the place to hang ,sorry about price of beers its a government tax that inflates the price. Do pop by again Karin

Stayed here for an overnight visit to concert at Croke Park.Great location for bars and restaurants and not too far shopping areas.Hotel is very quirky ...above a bar which was very busy at night but there is a small bar upstairs by reception if you just need to chill. Our room was at the front of the building and yes it was noisy but we knew this when booking so was not a problem!!We arrived on an early flight but were able to leave our bags while we hit the shops and even checked in slightly earlier than was advertised. The room we had was small and the bathroom was tiny but for an overnight stay was adequate ..possibly not for a longer stay....there was no wardrobe or drawers just 3 hangers on the wall and there was a small table and 2 chairs ??????personally I would have preferred a small sofa /chair or maybe a small chest of drawers. There were toiletries provided and also tea/coffee facilities .I would definitely stay here again if it was a short stay but would possibly request a larger room for a longer stay but staff were helpful and no complaints.

This is our second stay in Dublin - the first was at the 5 star Westbury which became my wife's favorite hotel. She is very picky about cleanliness and doesn't like to settle. I, on the other hand, like something more adventurous. So, I picked Kelly's when we came back to town with two teenage boys. We love this place.
I read and agree that it seems to be several old buildings that have been put together into a conglomeration of businesses. There is a pub. There is a restaurant. There is a very cool bar. And there are the guest rooms. This variety is what makes this place so much fun. Who ever is in charge has done a masterful job at artistically putting this place together in an exciting, upscale way.
It is true that it was hard to find the entrance. It is true that there is no lift and we had to carry our bags up stairs. I also found that the atmosphere and decor is more appropriate for adults and not good for young kids (see the naked art on the wall). But, it is fun navigating the myriad corridors to find your way around. It is also fun knowing you can go have a drink or sit and read in the hotel's private bar or wander down another stairway to the trendy music-blaring bar or go right next door to the Irish pub.
I said that they did a great job on the design and they also do a great job on the customer side. They have a 24 hour reception (which is not always true in Ireland). My wife loved the bathroom - not for its size but for its cleanliness and efficient desiign. She also commented on the comfort of the bed. They were willing to hold our bags during the day of our early arrival while we toured the city. They provide adequete toiletries and had a power converter to lend. Front desk staff were friendly and went out of her way to walk us to our rooms.
A couple more details to note - we did upgrade our rooms the fancier ones. We did notice a fair amount of street noise on a Tuesday night (but nothing you wouldn't expect in the city - and nothing like the complaints I hear about Temple Bar). If you are bothered by noise you might want to try a newer hotel with triple pane windows. We love the location - near Grafton Street, Dublin Castle, Temple Bar, Trinity College, etc.
Finally, a note about the penthouse room - we were unable to find the details we needed on the website: it has one bedroom with king bed, one sitting room with a nice large TV, and a loft with a king bed. It only has one bathroom which is in the loft. It is very cool, as the pictures show. But, being that it is the only bathroom and that the walls are made of glass and that the loft is open to below this might not be right for everyone. My wife and I decided not to stay in the penthouse with two teenage boys because of the bathroom issue. It turned out great because we got the privacy of our own room right next door.
In the end, if Kelly's is right for your situation than you will fall in love with this place!

Hi David
Thank you very much for your complimentary review...... delighted you appreciate our personalised house guest experience, we like Your Style! We will look at adding an enhanced description of the Penthouse on our website. Kellys is located in the Creative Quarter of Dublin's city centre and since our building is over 200 years old we are restricted in how we upgrade the windows etc. I hope we will welcome you and your friends soon again. My husband and I stayed st Kelly's for a week when we visited Dublin and it was fantastic! The room was minimalist, but it was large, clean and bright. More importantly the bar/restaurant attached (called the bar with no name) to the hotel is a great spot, serving yummy food and drink and is filled with a great crowd daily. Its the perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing and is just steps away from your room so you don't have to worry about treking home! On top of that, all of the staff at Kelly's are kind and helpful and the complimentary breakfast is great!
