“"A great place to stay to discover Dublin city"”
Reviewed May 22, 2012

we stayed at Adare B&B for four nights and we really enjoyed it! it's in the really nice and quiet area or Ballsbridge, perfectly located just out of the city center and easy to reach with public transports (10 min by bus) or walking (20-25 min). Catherine and Patrick are the perfect hosts, we always felt welcomed to their house and we enjoyed a good family athmosphere. it's a place we surely recommend to any couple staying in Dublin for a weekend or for a longer holiday and we wish we can come back to visit them again soon

We stayed at Adare B&B for two nights as a start for our week in Ireland. It is a little out of the city, but located in a very nice and quiet area with everything you need (nice pub, restaurant, store, etc...). It's still at walking distance from the town center (20-25minutes, 10min by bus). Catherine & Patrick were very helpful with everything, and gave us great tips & directions for our visits in the area.

One small detail: the sheet on the bed were the softest we've ever felt in our life. We literally wouldn't want to get up in the morning!!! :)

A great stay, which we would recommend to people around us - not cheap though (80€ double room mid May)

As a solo traveller I enjoyed four nights at Adare prior to Easter 2012. For me Adare was a sanctuary after a day of sightseeing and shopping and an easy place to travel in and out of the city for plays at the Gate and Abbey Theatres of an evening. Catherine and Patrick were gracious hosts with that wonderful balance of warm hospitality in an unobtrusive way. I was extremely comfortable in my room and enjoyed a healthy breakfast of cereals, toast, yoghurt & fruit each morning. Make sure you stroll around Herbert Park just behind the House during your stay - it is glorious in Springtime. I also rode the 46A bus to Dun Laoghaire for the Sunday farmers' market and a stroll along the foreshore.

When we arrived at Adare Bed and Breakfast, we quickly realized that we had found our long lost Irish family. We spent several days here. This lovely family welcomed us and our two year old son with open arms. We found the house quite charming and historic.

After breakfast the first morning, the owner gave bread to our son so that he could feed the ducks at a nearby duck pond. We loved the residential area and beautiful green parks close by. It was not difficult to catch a bus and get to City Center, plus a nice grocery store is in short walking distance.

We loved the owner's recommendations on best pubs and wish he could have joined us for a few. He also regaled us with tales of growing up in Ireland. Great stuff. The icing on the cake was when they gave our son a small football with Ireland on it. Thanks, Foys, for making our trip most memorable. And here's hoping that Micah wears the green shirt in a few years time!

Hi,
Thank you so much for writing a review of your stay in Adare. Catherine and I appreciate it so much, hopefully you are all keeping well. I can see Micah in a green shirt playing cricket in the near future, he is in the best place to learn the game.

We booked this B & B as it was near the Landsdowne rd stadium for the rugby International.
It was easy to get back and forth from the city especially with the 3 day pass ( 13 .50 Euros )on the busses which is also valid for the bus to and from the airport.
Patrick and Catherine were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast well cooked and plentiful served in a lovely dining room overlooking the garden.
The house has lovely original features and is in a very quiet street but near to bus stops and shops.
We will definitely stay again if we manage to get tickets for the rugby.

We were in Dublin for a couple of days to visit our youngest and to start out tour of Ireland. Adare House provided an excellent base from which to explore Dublin. Patrick and Catherine were welcoming hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. They were happy to hold our bags while we we spent our last day in Dublin and organised a taxi for us.

The room was comfortable. Our only observation is that while the bathroom in our room was quite big, the shower itself was a pretty tight fit. Any person of a larger build might have trouble actually closing the door of the shower. I am am unaware if this is the case in the other rooms.

Breakfast was very good and there was a good selection of yoghurts, fruits and cereals. The breakfast room was spacious and light and provided a comfortable place to enjoy breakfast and have a cuppa.

While there is transport available within close proximity to Adare Hose we found the walk back into Dublin an easy walk of about 10 to 15 minutes.

If we ever have the chance to return to Dublin we will definitely stay at Adare House.

Spent a few days with my wife at Adare recently and we really liked the place: It was nice & clean, the king size bed was very comfortable, and we slept well. Patrick and Catherine were very knowledgeable on local places to eat (several places offer 'early bird' 3 courses for around 20 euro). The tea making facilities (normally in a guests room in most b&bs) were in the breakfast room which meant that there was always daily fresh milk available for this. Breakfast was from 7:30 to 9:00 with most tastes catered for.

If you stay at Adare and need an Umbrella, Catherine will probably lend you their large golfing umbrella: I'm sure it doesn't rain too much in Dublin but we stayed during the recent (and possibly infamous) 'Dublin flood' on the 24th October and the umbrella was much appreciated; the rain however did not affect our enjoyment of the break. Herbert Park, just around the corner from Adare was nice to walk around & has a large lake.

The location of Adare has very good access to buses (we used the 46A most) and the DART train (at Landsdowne road): The DART was good value as we got two returns to Howth for only around 8.60 euro. If we are ever in Dublin again we'd definitely consider returning to Adare.
