Times Hostels - College Street
Ranked #21 of 120 Specialty Lodging in Dublin

Great location in Dublin city centre, easy to get the number 16 bus from the airport to just around the corner from the hostel. Young girls on reception were helpful, even offering me an umbrella to use in the downpour outside. Guinness storehouse 20 min walk away, and a free walking tour leaves from down the road. Rooms spacious, and Wednesdays there is a free dinner the hostel kindly puts on to the first 40 people who sign up. Kitchen doubles as the common room also.

Street noise is quite high as its the city centre, earplugs are a good idea if you are a light sleeper. Otherwise cant fault this place.

We enjoyed our stay in The Times Hostel, would definitly go there again. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm, which was good. Nice ensuite, only downside: if your roommate takes a shower at 2am, it's very noisy.
The first evening, free dinner (hamburger) was supplied to all the guests. The second evening, they surprised with wine and cheese. Nice initiatives!
I missed a nice lounge area, with couches to relax and have easy going social interaction with other guests. The commonroom/kitchen is too small and lacks athmosphere for that purpose.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Times Hostel a few weeks ago when visiting Dublin. We stayed in a private double room. The room wasn't bad, what you expect when you book a hostel. I've stayed in nicer hostels, but it was okay for the price. I was a little frustrated that I had to pay 2 euros just for a towel.

We had planned to travel for the weekend and then return to stay again for the rest of our trip. We decided that we could find a better hotel for about the same price and decided to cancel. We canceled 4 days before our second reservation, but when we returned home we discovered that we were charged the first two nights because we "didn't cancel" and were considered a no show. I received one e-mail, but after countless e-mails over the past two weeks I have received no communication from them.

Overall, the hostel was not terrible, but their communication and dealing with issues is by far sub par. I would not recommend staying here to anyone traveling whose plans may change. You can find a better hotel for a similar price with better customer service.

Location, location, location...
The hostel is right opposite Trinity College in central Dublin.
We are a family of 4, 2 young and 2 older adults.
We had a 4 bed en suite . It was a really good price, especially since free help yourself breakfast was included in the price. In our experience, the room was clean.
The self catering kitchen was large and also clean.
Their web site gives precise details about transport from airport and stations. We liked that the bus stop was very close. We also liked that there was a luggage room, so we didnt have to cart our stuff about with us after checking out the last day.
My only criticism would be that I would like thicker curtains to keep the light out. It is a bit noisy, but that is because it is central location. There are lots of narrow staircases to climb....but what do you expect for a cheap price in central Dublin?

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room if possible

Similar to many of the other reviews, must start with: Great location, good price and VERY friendly staff. However, the owner of this hostel is obviously just interested in raking in the profits and clearly doesn't give a hoot about the guests. The kitchen is very poorly equipped and downright dirty (sticky everything) - and the breakfast is the most lousy presentation of cheap wholesale I've ever seen. The room was actually nice and clean, as opposed to the dingy and dirty corridors, winding up, down and around the adjoined terraces like a rabbit warren. The worst of it all was the fact that there were NO TOWELS! We'd expressly checked that there would be towels before booking, especially as travelling as a family; these simply never arrived. On complaining, the manager was unreachable - only by email could the poor staff communicate with him. We ended up drying ourselves on spare sheets that the staff kindly gave to us. The coward manager's response (via email to his staff) to our complaint was that towels are an extra service and not to be expected here. I feel extremely sorry for the staff, which have to constantly cover for the invisible manager, who has absolutely no care for the trade. Will not be returning here - under this management.

Stayed at the hostel in a four bed room, for about a week. It was fine at first, the workers were really friendly and helped us find our way. It wasnt untill we got to our room that we discover another man was sharing it with us, that was fine BUT the bathroom was dirty, and we even noticed when that man checked out that day that the bathroom or even his bed got cleaned..... Later that day two new people came and slept in the unclean bed, the bathroom was still NOT clean. That made me and my friend uncomfortable to sleep in the beds.

Overall the area was the best to be in, it was close to shopping centers and pubs, the cost of the hostel was way worth it, i recommend to bring your own pillow case and bathroom cleaner.

My partner and I shared a four bedroom mixed dorm with another couple. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff were friendly. The room was really noisy at night - maybe we got the noisiest room - but it's what you would expect from central Dublin. Great location. A bonus was the free dinner on Wednesday night. Simple but tasty.
