Loyola Bed & Breakfast

After reading the one awful review for this place, I was a little nervous about the choice I had made, but my fears were quickly relieved once we arrived. Loyola is in a lovely old Victorian house on a quiet street north of the city center. As soon as we walked in the door, we were offered a cup of tea. The room was clean and comfortable. We had the ensuite twin room, and the bathroom was clean and convenient. Breakfast was bountiful (we didn't even get hungry again until evening, even with all the walking and sightseeing we did, and Margaret was a lovely hostess, full of interesting stories and warm hospitality. She even packed us a breakfast to take with us to the airport for an early morning flight.

I had the good fortune choose Loyola by accident, I got lost while looking for overnight accomodation and ended up at Loyola. The welcome was warm, the place was spotless, a home from home, food good, what more could one want. Well done Margaret and thank you.

I stay at his B&B on and off, when visiting the city. Always when I stay I find the accommodation warm, clean and comfortable. Margaret and Charley are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast is always good!! I can highly reccommend a stay at this establishment and I am sure will not be disappointed!!

Being impressed by the standards of 2 other B & B's we experienced in Ireland, We thought we were getting into a nice, Victorian setting. It was recommended to us by another American Friend who visited a year earlier. From the time we entered, The Loyola did not present us as a 'clean' operation. There was no signage in front of the building which raised questions. The 2-story house smelled awful...the dining room was crammed with old knick-knacks and the odor radiated there, too! The plastic table cloth was covered with crumbs and dirt...the tea cups were half clean and dispensers for sugar, salt & pepper...even toothpick holders were greasy from dirty hands-unclean! We spent the first night only to find an eccentric renter next to our rooms wouldn't allow talk, radio nor television to play after 10:30pm. At breakfast, nothing had changed as it regards the cleanliness of the dining room and dinnerware. The rooms were cramped and no place to store personal items...and the community bath had cleaning chemicals stored next to the tub, plus used soap bars still in the soap dishes! Make sure you check out your Bed and Breakfasts locations...make sure they are Registered and make sure they accept your credit cards!

We had the pleasure of staying a night at this B & B on 23 May 2009. The accommodation was very cosy, comfortable, clean and the operators friendly and helpful. What more could you ask for?

Breakfast was a communal affair sitting around the large family dining table. Our fellow guests were German and an interesting time was spent trying to communicate. The meal was good and hearty; my first experience with black and white pudding. Both worth a try was my verdict.

All in all I can highly recommend this B & B.
