Booked this for my husband's 50th birthday as a surprise. It turned out to be one of the best decisions in planning the trip. It made not only his actual birthday extra special and celebratory, but turned out to be the highlight of our 10 day trip. We took the tour on our second day in Dublin which I highly recommend doing very early in your trip as it will set the tone of the trip in a wonderful and authentic way.

Shane was geat from the time I booked the tour online until the end of the tour that evening. This tour is priceless in terms of seeing off the beaten path pubs and meeting locals - as well as the others on tour with you. Shane is fun, he's high energy and just a good guy that makes you feel comfortable right from the get go. Once finding out it was m husband' s birthday, he nonchalantly queued up the song "Happy Bithday" to play in the van and was one step ahead in helping me to orchestrate dessert after dinner. Just little efforts like that, made it memorable. Along with jumping in and participating in photographing our friend, Henry. We still laugh when we see photos of him during a session at the last pub cradled in the arm of a musician : )

Shane is gem and so is this tour. However, the biggest compliment I can give Shane is that even after doing countless tours over the years, he makes you feel like this is the first tour or perhaps the best one yet. He never rushes. He has a real talent for coordinating all this and making you feel like you're out with a friend.

Slainte!

Take this tour! Shane was incredible beyond words. We visited in November so we had to take the shorter of the two tours. We had such an amazing time with complete strangers. Shane picked us up right on time and took us to three pubs. He was in such high spirits it was hard not to have a good time. At all the pubs he helped us get our drinks and find a seat and chatted with us the whole night. If you enjoy seeing some of the countryside and drinking, you absolutely have to take this tour! Thank you so much Shane! We will be back.

My husband and I visited Dublin in December (not the most popular time, but great for cheap flights from the States!) It was the perfect weather for a pub tour.

Our tour was a shorter one, due to it being the off-season for tourists but the on-season for office party pub tours, and it was still one of our favorite activities in Ireland.

Shane ran the tour and picked us up in front of the old church on Suffolk. He was very friendly and engaging from the start and kept up good conversation on our way out of town. We quickly got to know the other people on the tour.

Our first stop was a great pub way up on a hill with a fabulous landscape view. The first room in the pub had a fireplace fed by turf, and it was fun just to sit there next to the fire and get to know people over a Guinness. There were other larger rooms beyond that as well, with more people.

Our next stop was at a place that also featured live Irish music and we all ordered some food and enjoyed our drinks (poor Shane has to drink tea) and company while listening.

On the way back into town, Shane played us all Irish music over the speakers and have us tips about which places in town would be good bets for the rest of the evening.

We had a great time. We really liked Shane and the mood he set for the tour. Maybe next time we will take the full tour. I'm sure it's more than worth it!

My wife booked us on this tour when we went to Dublin and i got to say that i loved it. Best part of the trip. Shane,Our Guide took us to several off the beaten path pubs and we got to hang out with the locals. Shane told us some of the history of the places we visited, we met several people and we still talk to a couple that we met from California. We travelled the countryside and ate at one of the pubs. Really great food by the way. Shane was awesome, made everybody feel welcomed and comfortable.I'm planning another trip to Ireland soon and we will book another tour just for the fun of it.

My husband and I were very excited about this tour, and were very disappointed when we received a call from Shane telling us that the tour would be cancelled because we were the only people that had booked. However, the day was salvaged and Shane more than redeemed himself when he e-mailed us some suggestions for how to do a self-guided tour by taking the DART to some towns outside of Dublin. We especially enjoyed the suggestion that we go to Bray and have a pint at the Harbour Bar. Thanks for the tips, and we will look forward to doing the "official" tour when we come back to Dublin!
