“A traditional experience with personal attention”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

A treat for a daughter with a selection from the early bird and the A La Carte provided a very tasty meal in an uncluttered venue. The staff were very attentive but not overwhelming. It is a prestigeous venue.

“3 times and consistent”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 18, 2013 via mobile

We have eaten here on 3 occasions and each time both food and service consistent. The wine list is ok but would have expected more. They made an additional effort for a birthday celebration which was a nice touch. The cocktsil bar beside is also very nice but a tad over priced in my view.

“Food Average and Overpriced, Dine Here Just For the Fame”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

We did not stay here but specially came to try the buffet breakfast. Just want to see and feel what a renowned hotel of Dublin is.

The building is grand and antique. We were arranged to a cozy corner. The food is not fabulous or various as expected. Staff not so attentive and used plates were not taken away shortly.

Pricey, ~30 euros per head. I could have and did ever have much much impressive and wonderful experience in the classic hotels in Eastern Europe countries at such price.

“Not What We Expected”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013 via mobile

We booked the private room to the rear of the Saddle Room for a special dinner. When booking the room we were advised that we could not have a la carte, we asked for a sample menu which was not exciting, we asked for the normal table de hote menu from the restaurant but this also was not possible. We had already committed to the location so we went ahead regardless.

On arrival, I was asked whether we wanted a la carte when our guests were already entering the room - this I declined. We were welcomed to the "Best restaurant in Dublin". The menu presented was as bland as the previous. For me cured salmon followed by steak medium rare. What came was a single slice of salmon drizzled with olive oil that looked as if it was cut with a potato peeler it was so thin followed by a steak announced as medium rare but so well done that it had shrunk to about half the size of the others ordered and was barely edible. A number of guests ordered grilled place which when it arrived made me wonder what the minimum size for a legal catch under EU law might be. It was embarrassing. Vegetables were scarce so we had to order additional at an extra cost. The deserts were ok but at that stage too little too late.

This could be "the best restaurant in Dublin" but it isn't.

“Very exclusive experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

We were staying in Dublin and my wife arranged this restaurant as a special event. Although we arrived an hour early, that was no problem and we were take to a lovely private booth. The decor is opulent and the staff very knowledgable and helpful, without being intrusive. We chose the taster menu with the wines and what a treat the menu was.
Our waiter was just delightful. He came to top up the water and bring the wine exactly at the right time. The food was also cooked just as we had requested. The service was truly impeccable.
If you want to really impress a partner book a secluded table. Yes, it did not come cheep, but was worth paying for and if you want a truly memorable experience at the very heart of Dublin, this is the place to go. Highly recommended.
