“Poor value for money, very little comfort and breakfast was tastleless”
Reviewed March 15, 2009

Stayed for one night noise from road meant we got very little sleep, poor quality curtains meant that the light was shining through very early. No blind on the main window which would lessen the noise. One of the bedside lamps had no bulb which meant I could not rrad. The television was black and white and receptipn was poor. The bathroom was very small and the heating in the morning was not left on for long enough. The breakfast was very poor quality all the cereals in boxes no fresh fruit. The marmalade was in one pot on the dresser so everybody had to take their had to help themselves. THe brekfast was set up to cause minium work for the properitors and as a consequence no thought for the comfort or enjoyment for the guest. We paid 80 euro which was no tgood value fo rmoney I had recently visited Bangkok and australia the quality and service was superb. Guest Houses are not going to survive going forward if they do not improve teh quality of accomadation and food

This is a great little B&B in the Clontarf area of Dublin that I found almost by accident on accommodation.ie.
I was at a conference at Clontarf Castle but my budget didn't stretch to staying there, so that's when I looked for alternative accommodation in the area and found Ferryview Guesthouse, which is about 7-8 minutes walk away.
The guesthouse is also within reasonable distance from the city centre (about 10-15 minutes on bus 130, or around 40 minutes walk - just make sure it's not raining!). The Killester stop on the DART probably isn't too far away either.
My room was very comfortable with a double and a single bed, a TV with reasonable selection of Irish and British channels, and coffee/tea making facilities. Bathroom was clean, but the power of the shower was a bit pathetic (my only complaint!).
Although Clontarf Rd is quite busy, being around the side/back of the property there was virtually no traffic noise at all.
Breakfast was very good with a choice of cereals, fresh coffee and fruit juices, white/brown bread, and cooked breakfast (sausages, bacon, egg, black pudding).
Taxi from the airport was €20. Otherwise, you will need to catch 2 buses: 130 from/to city centre - €1.60. Then 41c from Lower Gardiner St - around €2, or 747 or 748 airlink from Central Bus Station or O'Connell St - €6 oneway, €10 return (the 747/748 are the better option if you have lots of luggage and don't want to pay the expense of a taxi)
2 of my colleagues stayed there as well with no complaints.
I would definitely recommend this B&B and if the conference is in the same place next year, I will stay there again.

See pictures I have posted as well.
