“Not very clean and more like an old hotel.”

I wasn't very impressed with abigails. We paid to stay in a private room but I didn't see the point. It was expensive for what we got, staff weren't overly welcoming and it wasn't very clean. There are hopefully better places to stay in Dublin that are more welcoming.

We got a private 6 bed dorm for a group of girls on a hen 'do, and couldnt have been happier. The location is unbeatable, and the security seems pretty good. Its a 'make your own bed' place, but the sheets were clean, as was the room and en-suite bathroom. Theres no frills, but you wouldnt expect that at a hostel. 24hr access was no problem, and there was a left-luggage room for our last day. You will need to rent towels or bring your own, and you will need to carry around a ridiculously flimsy 'security pass' to get back in. The rock bar next door is quite fun with live music, and theres a great italian that does a brilliant cheap but quite posh breakfast a short walk along the river to your left as you leave the hostel.

6 girls in dublin for shoppin and drinkin :-) booked in to the hostel, staff were just sooo friendly (hotel staff could learn a lot from them) the room had what we needed a bed each for the nite and private bathroom. Bed linan was clean but a bit tired. Hostel location was perfect for shoppin and drinking. And at €21 each what more could u want apart from to go back again for another mad weekend in dublin. Defo recomend. Defo return

The entire staff was extremely helpful and willing to go the extra mile for us! Special mention goes the chatty Shawna and the big muscle-ey Kevin for being the lucky staff whose names we managed to remember :) Everything is clean but - not every guest cleans up after themselves so the kitchen area at times appears a bit messy (by the next day it's all cleared away by the staff) Great location, just a minute's walk to O'Connell St. and there is plenty of stuff right outside the door!

Overall:
10/10 Experience
10/10 Price
10/10 Value for Money

This certainly wasn't the nicest hostel I've stayed at.
Positives
-location close to Temple bar, Trinity college
-complimentary breakfast w/toast, cereal, yogurt, hard boiled egg and sometimes fruit. Tea and coffee always available.
-small kitchen to cook (closes at 2130)
-grocery store practically next door.
-staff was helpful finding tours and airport transfers.
-price was reasonable

Negatives
-There are no lockers or anywhere to lock things up in the rooms. You must purchase a locker in the lounge area if you want to lock anything up.
-only two outlets in one room (for 8 people) not ideal if you need to charge anything at night. I had to reach over someones head/bunk bed to get to the outlet.
-WiFi did not work in room (was on the 4th floor)
-You must return your key every time you leave the hostel and pick it up on return. You need to carry a piece of paper that shows you are staying there to get your key back (they weren't strict about this)
-cleaning lady didn't do the best job cleaning the rooms. There were half drank sodas that remained in the corner of the room for my three night stay.
-carpet and bathrooms are dated. There was a jacuzzi bathtub/shower in our bathroom (8 person female dorm w/ ensuite).
-room layout was awkward with two sets of bunk beds in front of floor to ceiling windows.

Overall it was an OK stay. Not the best hostel I've stayed at, but also not the worst.

It's really big so it didn't have such a fun community feel, but the rooms were nice, the breakfast was included, the location was perfect, and apart from a few noisy early risers it turned out to be a good place to rest and refresh before heading out to explore the city.

Been travelling a month now in hostels, hotels, and b&bs and this is the worst sleep we've had. Initial impressions were great, hostel is in a great location, secure and quite large with a good common area. Check in was friendly. However the room was not the slightest bit sound proof and we had people shouting, laughing and running around the hallways until around 3:30am. we could hear people drinking and getting rowdy all night in the rooms around and next to us aswell. We understand hostels and that people have fun when at a hostel but this is not usually at the expense of other guests getting a decent sleep. The noise should have been controlled by the staff but this was obviously not happening. The hostel has a 24hour reception, I would suggest the floors are regularly checked to ensure guests are keeping noise to a minimum out of respect for the other people in the hostel. The common room is massive so plenty of room to be loud and socialise there. Good points: the room was nice, bed clean and decent, wifi worked in the room and the breakfast was included (toast and cereal), just a pity the rooms are not the slightest bit sound proof. Wouldn't stay here again if I wanted a decent sleep, however if I was going out and having a big night drinking I would.
