I don't usually like sitting in subterranean spaces during daylight hours, but I have to make an exception for the Cellar, which is a very attractive space. One can either sit in the restaurant or, more casually, at the bar. Menus are varied and food is very good. Wonderful brown bread.

I have been few times at this restaurant, and really like the fact that it is quiet and nice.

We liked:
- The service
- The atmosphere
- The design
- The fact that it is quiet

What could have been improved:
- The quality of food (poor quality compared to the standing of this restaurant)

This is the bar/restaurant of one of Dublin's most expensive (5*) hotels- the Merrion. So you would expect it to be classy with good food and good service. It is. You would also expect it to be expensive- above the average city centre dining experience. But actually it isn't. We were there with a large group and their set menu was superb value. The wine was also quite reasonably priced considering the location. This is a good place to bring business associates as well as a very nice place to bring a loved one- most of the people in the night I was there were at tables for two in a coy refined and classy athmosphere- romantic indeed. Oh stop off in the bar on your way out- it is excellent- again prices are normal Dublin city proces but it is a very well laid out bar with lots of cosy cubby holes accomodating anywhere from 4 to 12 people. You will enjoy it. A refined relaxed athmosphere and an all round satisfying experience.

Unsurprisingly, very dimly lit and if you have dodgy "minces" then reading the menu or any business papers could be a touch challenging. Food excellent, service not lightning fast but acceptable.
