“Excellent hotel upstairs!”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

My husband and I arrived in Dublin with no reservations for the night. We stumbled upon Farrington's of Temple Bar online and booked a great deal for one night. Upon arrival, the bar staff seemed a little suprised that we were staying upstairs and had to get the bar manager to check us in. Otherwise, the service was impeccable! Our room was in the building's interior, and therefore suprisingly quiet. Plenty of natural light from the skylight (with remote controlled retractable shade) though! Huge bathroom with jacuzzi tub, and a clean, comfortable bed. Great location, right in the middle of Temple Bar, and fun bar downstairs with live music. We immediately booked two more nights! Best three nights of our 27 day multi-country vacation!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet interior room so Dublin's wild nightlife doesn't keep you up all night.

Dropped in last night for a pint and chat with two friends.
No seats so sat at the bar.
Ordered drinks. So far so good.
Paid for drinks with a €50 note. Got the change bundled up with a receipt.
Opened the receipt and started to check the change amount.
Barmen interrupted me and said he wanted to check the change.
It was shy €5. He apologised. I have a suspicious mind!!
THEN somewhere nearby a person (unseen) with a guitar started to make noise.
Loud beyond belief and out of tune. I mean LOUD. Fields of Athenry and the like.
We finished the drinks and left.
Whatever turns you on!!

This review pertains only to the bar

We met two friends on the evening of 13th July here. Although in the touristy "Temple Bar" area the bar was not crowded with lots of seating available

The bar serves speciality "Craft brews" and a sample of one was supplied by a very polite and efficient barman

The ambience was very nice with a more older customers present

But will we return, absolutely not because of the price gouging...

Only downside was in connection with the price of Guinness served. A pint cost €4.90, but a half pint was served for €3.10.

When ordering a Vodka & Tonic, we were charged €4.60 for the Vodka and believe it or not but €2.20 for a very small bottle of Tonic. Another example of price gouging

This is an outrageous example of gouging the customer

We arrived for a three day break on April 9th 2012. On arrival the place was closed because we had taken an early flight and this may be a problem for people arriving later with night flights.

The room was excellent, large and with a separate walk in area to store clothes, the decoration is lovely and the bed is definitely the most comfortable bed i have slept in. Access is via a side door so you don't have to go into Farringtons bar, but is up two flights of stairs so access may be a problem if you've difficulty with mobility. The pub is located in the center of temple bar along with most of the best pubs and entertainments, Temple bar pub is definitely one of the best bars in the area, a must visit, with some great bands providing entertainment and adding to an already lively atmosphere. Be warned because of the rooms location, it is noisy at night and you may have trouble sleeping if you're a light sleeper like myself.

But a great location in a lovely venue, with friendly people and a great atmosphere.

My husband and I ate here on Monday, our first night in Dublin. We were drawn in by the earlybird menu and we weren't disappointed. We had a lovely dinner served by friendly staff.

Farringtons is a brilliant base for exploring Dublin - right in the heart of Temple Bar and a short walk to the nearest Dublin Tour bus stop. The room was spacious and the beds were comfy however, whilst the bathroom was spotless, there was a reasonable amount of dust in the bedroom area. After 2 nights, the heating in our room broke but the hotel couldn't have dealt with the situation any better and moved us to another room which was nice and warm :) The staff were very friendly and were happy to answer any questions we had about the area. Being in Temple Bar, it is quite noisy until 3/4am but I can sleep through anything so this wasn't a problem!
