Enjoyed the walk around and fascinating graveyard. It's obviously well kept and made a good settling in visit following arrival in Donegal with views of the bay.

The abbey was built by Hugh O'Donnell for the Friars. His son, Red Hugh built the nearby Donegal Castle. It has been suggested that a underground tunnel had connected the two locations but this has never been proven.
There isn't much left of the old Abbey, but on a nice evening the views around it can be lovely. The graveyard is still in use but a good pair of shoes and solid balance is recommended if you are planning in walking around it. Some of the pathways are fairly waterlogged so choose your day carefully.

This is a very special place with a wonderful atmosphere. Plenty of pubs, restuarants and several hotels near by.
Worth a visit
