I have stayed in many guest houses, n B & B's in Ireland n this is without doubt the best yet. The only difference between The Arches n a 4star hotel is that The Arches doesn't have a Leisure centre. I couldn't fault it - the room was very spacious and would fit 4 people very comfortably. Beds were really comfy and the room immaculate as was the rest of the house. The garden to the front of the house was beautiful n very well maintained. Noirin was a gracious n friendly hostess n provided a beautiful full Irish breakfast with fresh filtered coffee (which is unusual in Irish houses) n much appreciated. Would recommend to family n friends without reservation.

If you are looking for a place to relax while in the Donegal area, you must try the hospitality of Noreen here at this lakeside, country retreat! From the minute you drive up to the time you drop your bags in the room, you get a sense of serenity. It is soo peaceful here. The rooms are large and the bed is really comfortable. The bathrooms are modern and showers have excellent pressure and plenty of room. No stairs here folks. It is out of town...perfect, because there is very little to do in Donegal. You are best to relax here on your trip.
There is a great little restaurant across the lake...ask her about the shortcut to it through the castle!
Tea in the room with biscuits...a great plus after a long day on the road. Breakfast is quality, not quantity...something I really appreciate.
Noreen is a very gracious host. You will feel at home here...I know I did. My only complaint? I wish I could stay longer! Oh well, next time, for sure.

Room Tip: The rooms in the front are surprisingly cool in the hot summer sun and face the lake! Awesome..it is...

Stayed here for 1 night with my husband and 15 mo old son. Noreen was a lovely, gracious host. Gave us a large room with plenty of space. Bathroom modern, bright and updated. Noreen even provided us with a few toys and cot! Our son was more than welcome which was nice. Bed was very comfortable. House is located on the lake, in a lovely, quiet area, just a few min from town. Breakfast was good. I would stay there again.

The beautiful drive up to The Arches sets the tone for a stay at this wonderful place! The house is gorgeous, the landscaping perfect, and the view of the lake, mountains, and the sheep and cows grazing on the hills is a perfect setting for a relaxing getaway. Noreen was such a welcoming host and made my wife and I feel as though we'd known her for years. Breakfast is not the big buffet you get at some places, but the food is incredible and more than enough (despite what your eyes may tell you at first). Hands down the best french toast I have ever had!

My wife and I had just a short stay, but will be recommending The Arches to everyone we can and hoping to come back for a longer stay sometime!

Beautiful house and gardens overlooking Lough Eske. Because of the location, we had a very relaxing two nights, and did not find it particularly difficult to get to. The location is very close to Donegal town for your evening entertainment.
House and rooms are spotless, and Noreen is friendly and attentive, and puts a lot of effort into ensuring the comfort of her guests. Breakfast was great, with a wonderful view across the lough.
I would recommend The Arches most highly.

What a BEAUTIFUL spot on Lough Eske near Donegal Town. When you first drive up, you are awed by the perfectly manicured lawn and the impressive entry to a grand home. Noreen is charming, warm and the perfect hostess. We got lost in the dark and she very patiently guided us to her home. We were so delighted after a long day to arrive in such a glorious place. The breakfasts were just delicious and we immensely enjoyed chatting with the other guests at the inn. Although it is a very long trip from America, we totally fell in love with Ireland and the lovely people who live there - we can't wait to return and for sure our travels will bring us back to The Arches in Donegal. Thank you, thank you Noreen for being such a gracious hostess during our recent visit to Ireland. You were so wonderful to search for the perfect gillie for my husband and despite the rain - we enjoyed our stay with you tremendously. Come visit us in America anytime!

My wife and I stayed last night (25th May) with Noreen at the Arches Country House and we both agree it is the best B&B we have stayed at in three weeks of travelling the UK and Ireland. The place is luxurious, spotless and friendly. The views overlooking the loch and surrounding farmland are stunning. The house is a credit to Noreen and her husband and is spotless and perfectly decorated. We had the most restful nights sleep so far on our trip. The breakfast was superb and conversation stimulating. We loved our stay and would love to go back someday. Noreen thank you so much.

Room Tip: we stayed in the ground floor front room which was stunning, so quiet and comfortable and stunning v...
