This trip was a special anniversary and we chose Harvey's Point because a friends recommendation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay from the welcome to the lavish large bedrooms to the beautiful food and the personal approach from the staff. A big thank you to all at Harvey's Point.

Well recommended for a weekend of tranquility. could not speak highly enough of the hotel and its staff. Dinner was unbelievably good and variety of menu to suit everyone. Will definitely be going back and telling others about it.

Just returned from two day weekend break We were fortunate.to have booked early in January as the hotel was sold out ..we were upgraded to newly refurbished suites, Beautifully decorated spotlessly clean excellant attention to detail. Fresh milk supplied daily. The balcony is a great asset for viewing the fabulous lake this morning which was a hive of activity with swans, cygnets water hens and mallards. Enjoyed a lovely breakfast,so much variety of drinks ,smoothies poached fruit , fresh fruit salad etc, breads and danish pastries in abundance. Porridge with Bailey's cream at your disposal!!! great variety of food in the Ulster fry department plus omelette freshly made to order by a happy chef.

As usual we were warmly greeted by the excellant staff who are so willing to make your holiday a memorable one. mmc

Having read so many rave reviews we decided on a weekend stay at Harvey's Point hotel on Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd Feb 2013. Still wondering if we got the right hotel. We had booked a courtyard room which we did not realise is accessed from outside the main hotel. This wouldn't be an issue if weather hadn't been so bad but it does require you to get well wrapped up if going to the bar or restaurant. The room itself was very nice but had serious sound proofing issues. We could almost make out conversations of people next door. This wasn't a major problem early in the evening but trying to get to sleep at 1am while someone in the next room is laughing like a hyena is not my idea of a relaxing weekend. When we first entered the bar on Friday evening it felt cold and we only found somewhere comfortable to sit at the third attempt. One review I had previously read mentioned "roaring log fires" which we could have done with. The main bar area had a miserable little fire with 4 briquettes smouldering away. I suspect this was the best they could do as their may be an issue with smoke blowing through the restaurant area.
We decided to dine in the bar on the friday night. My wife had soup to start which was returned to be reheated as it was only luke warm. The rest of the meal was average. The buffet breakfast could be good if you are careful about your choices. Unfortunetly I chose bacon and eggs from the "hot" tray which was only luke warm. Saturday night we dined in the main restaurant. My main course of venison and the vegetables that accompanied it had to be returned for reheating. The same chipped plate the meal was served on initially was returned to me after reheating. The waiter was very courteous and apologetic and brought me a complimentary glass of wine. Overall I found this hotel to be a big let down. It's posiible that my expectations had been raised as a result of the reviews I had read. There's no doubt that the friendly staff are probably the best thing about the hotel.

Room Tip: Don't believe all the hype and don't book a courtyard room.

Dear Tom, I am so sorry to hear of your disappointment in relation to your recent visit to Harvey's Point. Thank you for taking the time to share your comments as in this way, we can address the issues you highlighted. The room in which you stayed is one of our new Lakeshore Rooms and while there is a covered walkway to them, recent winter weather has been worse than usual with heavy winds and rain. We are working on putting in further insulation to correct soundproofing. There was an issue with smoke from the fires that weekend also and I am sorry about this as I know it impacted on guests enjoyment of their visit, especially given the atrocious weather. However, there is no excuse for food not being hot and chipped plates. Please be assured that I will make a complete investigation into these matters with our Management Team. Thank you for your kind comments about our friendly staff. It is our goal to exceed expectations at every level and I hope you will accept our apologies for the shortcomings you experienced on this occasion. Please do not hesitate to contact me personally if I can assist in any way to restore your faith in Harvey's Point. Yours sincerely, Deirdre.

My fiancee and I visited this hotel for the first time and were taken aback by the first class customer service and warm welcome. From the moment we walked through the door we were made to feel very special. The rooms are fantastic and certainly worthy of a 5* rating. The bar and restaurant are warm and cosy with a turf fire and a resident pianist. The food is outstanding and the wine list huge! Even before our meeting with the wedding co-ordinator Samantha, we knew this was the perfect venue for our wedding and look forward to celebrating our special day at Harvey's Point in May 2014!

Fabulous hotel in Donegal, amazing scenery, amazing bedrooms and an amazing getaway location. Bedrooms are huge and beautiful, as are the bathrooms. Food is brilliant in the restaurant and in the bar and the big log fires make it cosy and warm. Couldn't recommend enough!
