Myself & my husband honeymooned in this hotel. We like to travel & end up somewhere & then book in somewhere instead of planing.
The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming, we didn't ask to see the room first as I looked it up online on my phone before going in. The views were very appealing to the back.
As the hotel had no double rooms left, the room we stayed in was a family room @ the very back of the hotel! there were no views. When I took the valence sheet off the bed- there was a stain from dust on the quilt. Also there were no net curtains in the room! Everyone could see into each others room!
During the night, there was screaming & thumping in the hall- other residents were having a drunken row! Then the phone would not dial reception!! By the time my husband got dressed the rowing had stopped!!
The following morning when we went down to breakfast- it was very busy admittedly. We had to stand at the door, all eyes watching, and to wait to be told and gestured to to sit at the table free next to it! Other tables were free that we would have preferred to sit at. The table was in a corner. the woman that served us & gave us the menu, before taking our order- snatched the menus off the table as we laid them down to present them to guests at the table across form us. It felt very insulting as we paid our money too! When taking our order, we were not asked how we would like our eggs! It would have been nice also to receive our tea and coffee at the same time- not 7minutes apart! When I asked for toast, it made me feel like I put stress on the girl serving us!! When it finally arrived, the breakfast received did not match the menu we read- contents included invisible tomatoes & white pudding mentioned on the menu! We had no sooner finished than the staff started cleaning the tables around us making us feel in their way! We were never asked for a room number and when I asked 2 staff making conversation- neither would take responsability to pass it on! An elder member of staff was called just to say the room number to! It was a big deal for no reason!
Checking out the girl we checked in with greeted us & when she asked us how was our stay; I think she could tell we were not very impressed. We did want to stir a big fuss in the lobby & so checked out and left. I would not stay here again personally.

Room Tip: ask to view the room! see what your getting first!

Stayed here for one night when showing a friend the delights of Donegal. The room was spacious and exactly what we need as a base to discover the area. The manager was extremely friendly going out of his way to greet guests. He hosted entertainment in the hotel that evening and could not have been more welcoming. Breakfast the next morning was excellent. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel

So far the least favorite accommodation we’ve stayed at in Western Ireland. However, we have not stayed at any other hotels or B&Bs in Donegal town specifically. The dinner deal is not worth it and I hesitate to say almost a scam. We paid an extra 20 euros only to get a 20 euro dinner voucher that if you don’t use it all you lose the remainder and it doesn’t include drinks! Even if you do decide the hotel’s dinner menu is your best option, you don’t save any money. Please look elsewhere until they change their policy.

My husband and I went to the dinner with the stars last night ,thursday 10th june.Well was it up to our expections? yes it was.
We have been on a lot of crusies and have been to their shows and I have to say that this show ticks all the right boxes.
At the door we got the red carpet treatment, staff welcomed us at the front door apon arrival and told us we could go down to the ballroom or have a drink in the bar before the show started.
We went down to the ballroom and were escorted straight to our table where there was a bottle of my favourite wine on the table.(My husband had done this as a supprise.)
The food was out of this world the best we have had since our last cruise. As to the show it was not to be faulted,Eamonn introducted each act with style and a bit of 'craic'.
We loved Conal Gallen with his wit and Jimmy Buckley, well he got everone on the floor dancing.
The staff were more than helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
We will be back again in August but this time we will bring a few friends.
I must say well done to the team in the Central and must not forget to mention Jackie and Shiela who looked after us and gave us a night that we will treasure for a long time.
