Thankfully the weather was benign - no wind and the members were very helpful.

Excellent links couse. Good facilities and clubhouse. Course is playable all year round. The signature par 3 5th hole is aptly named the 'Valley of Tears' for good reason!

We only had a snack for our dinner but the food was great and service excellent. We watched the golfers play, looks a very windy course.

Donegal Golf Club or Murvagh as it is known by one and all is a long course, a tough course, at times a frustrating course and it is all the memorable for it. it is also the most stunning setting, the best maintained and the the most welcoming club you could hope to visit.

Playing the first towards Belles Isle gets you right into its long unforgiving manner - the scenery can be a distraction it is so good, but playing good golf here is very rewarding. You work for it and get to wonder at Donegal Bay when you're gathering your thoughts. The sixth is called the valley of tears for good reason - get on the green from the drive, or perish. The eighth has you driving from a height that Zeus himself would envy; the twelfth takes no prisoners and so on. Think you;re coasting on the eighteenth? Miss your drive and you're in high dudgeon.

Ensure you enjoy the nineteenth with its congenial members and get to hear how you should have played those holes. Twenty twenty vision and all that. Don't miss it - it's rightly in the Top 20 of links courses in these islands.
