We found a perfect piece of heaven with perfect accomodation on the beautiful Island of Tory in Co Donegal. The hostel has a number of spacious and well proportioned rooms and each room is ensuite, the hostel also has the use of a self contained flat for use by families all rooms are beautifully decorated and very well maintained,The views from the hostel are breath taking and the owner Deidre could do no more to make us feel exceptionally welcome, included in the price of the hostel is the use of the washing machine and dryer in the utility room, there is plenty to see and do on this beautiful island We would highly recommend this hostel to stay in , beautiful beaches and plenty of rock pools for the children to visit. The host family including the children were very welcoming playing daily with our 2 children. We have friends for life.

We at Tory Hostel are really sorry to hear that a reviewer was disappointed with their visit to Tory Hostel. We pride ourselves on offering a warm cead mile Failte to all our guests and accommodating their needs where possible. I know in your case you had booked in for a smaller group and nearer the time you were looking to book in a larger group. As you know we were fully booked but not wanting to disappoint your guests we were prepared to make available the room that you had originally booked for you and your guests.

I am sorry that you felt your trip was spoiled, we had hoped the round island trip and lighthouse visit would have made up for any inconvenience you had experienced.

We’d love to see you back again and hope you will get to experience the breadth of facilities available in our hostel

With warm Tory wishes,

The Tory Hostel Team

We always were told to go to Tory Island at the end of July by our other friend that have been throughout the years, and noticed on facebook there was alot happening so we said to ourselfs now is our time, And on the day we rang the ferry and we were told last ferry was at 7PM which was perfect at that moment.
On our journey we took a few wrong turns after we were told to STAY ON THE RIGHT and everything would be fine... So we had to call again and we were corrected and were told not to panic which was a relief,

7.??pm we landed on the harbour to the awaiting ferry and three lovely young gentlemen help us with our bangs and belongings and told us where was best to leave our cars, on the crossing it was the most beautiful journey of my life, almost like a dream, the crossing only took 35minutes, everybody was having a good time, but we started to slow down for no reason till the ferry came to a stop and the young captain had discovered five shark fins, everyone was dlighted and we got some great pictures for memory, after that we raced into Tory Island and it has the most beautiful coastline and discovered more sharks, NOTE THAT THEY HAVE NO TEETH to put you at ease,

On arrival we questioned the young gentlemen which we owed so much for waiting what was best to do? They said fish&chip in The Hotel and to camp near the Club-House because thats where the ''crack'' is, which means fun!!.. and if we needed any help with anything not to hesitate,

So that advice later became the plan, and that is exactly what we did, we set up our camping tents beside everyone else near the Club-House and they said that tonight was to be bigger then the night before, and this made us even more excited, we took a walk to The Hotel and ordered our drinks and fish which went down a treat and greeted by ''the king of the island'' a very talented man with music,

As the night went on we lost track of time to notice the sun was rising and had the wonderful night with a different culture of people that i have never seen before in my travels, the music in the Club-House was amazing and everyone had a great time,
You must experience this lovely little island and their culture, its a rare diamond... and i would love to thank my friends and the locals of Tory Island for making my trip so special, and to the gentlemen on the fast ferry for waiting exta time for us...

follow them on facebook and explore their pictures and videos, toryfastferry and search within their friends for more Tory sites and pages,

thanks you guys

I booked a room with four single beds, in the hostel, two months prior to our trip. On arrival, we were told that the only room available had a double bed, a single bed, and one of us would have to sleep on the floor. This might be ok for teenagers, but we're approaching sixty. We had no choice but to take it, as there were no other available beds on the island. I then realised that our four-bed room, across the hallway, was still unoccupied. The poor lady who had to sleep on the floor was charged full price for the privilege. Coming back that night, the bulb was gone downstairs, so we had to feel our way in the dark. The visitors from Scotland were not impressed! Everything else about the island was fantastic! The people are so friendly.

Visited Tory for 10 day holiday in July. First few days were really bad weather, thankfully there was indoor entertainment for the kids in the Community Centre , this was part of the Arts festival. The remaining days were glorious, the 6 children aged between 9months and 10 years spent most of the time down the beach, fishing and making friends with other kids. They also played in the park, visited the lighthouse and took in the breath taking scenery.
We stayed in the flat above the shop, these flats are spectacular. The living room window looks over the harbour, and allows to view all the island activities. The flat is extremely well equipped and very comfortable. The owners are hospitable, and attentive, will use this accommodation again. Lots of visitors to the island on a daily basis, very relaxing.
