I ate here twice recently. Once with my wife and once with my wife and family. Both times we had the 8 course fusion tasting menu. The menus differed between visits however on both occasions we were delighted with the experience. The food is outstanding in terms of preparation and quality of ingredients. The food tends to be very novel e.g. venison chimichanga but really delicious. The service is friendly and efficient. Overall this is a pricey restaurant but its very definitely worth it.

If you want a gastronomic experience in Cork there is nowhere better than Ivory Tower on Princess Street. Was wowed by the Fusion Menu there last night - an 8 course tastefest that cannot be too highly recommended. The stars of this menu for me were the rabbit and bergamo lemon terrine, the wonderful risotto and a delicious chocolate/chilli fondant and cinnamon ice cream but all dishes surprised and delighted. The wine, recommended by the owner and chef Seamus O'Connell was a delicious Portuguese white that served as a great accompaniment to the dishes.

This is a small restaurant with about 9 tables 8 of which were occupied last night, the general setting and overall presentation is unpretentious and individual and the ambience is relaxed and very much focused on the food.

While at €60 - €70 a head plus wine it may not be the cheapest option for eating out in Cork it is guaranteed to provide a memorable experience and considering that you could easily spend an enjoyable 3 to 4 hours over your meal and will come away knowing you have tasted something special it's not bad value. For food of this quality and individuality you could easily pay double in any other major city.

Thanks for your great review, and I'm glad you enjoyed the meal so much.
Just a point for anyone reading this - the 'signature' tasting menu costs from €70 to €80 and is what we are known for. But there are a few cheaper options including a Japanese tasting menu and a 5 course 'a la carte' dinner menu. Call for details - phone number is 021 427 4665 or + 353 21 427 4665.

Also please note, we are only open from Thurs to Sunday.

Hey Jamie
Amazball review too! Yes, Seamus always trys to get out of the kitchen and meet the clientele. He says it the only way he can get proper feedback on his food. Sometimes though I think he just wants to hear the compliments.

We went for the the 8 course fusion menu. The food was superb, the atmosphere very relaxed and homely, and the chef, Seamus (who was also our waiter) was very welcoming and friendly. His love of food and all things eclectic is reflected within the four walls of the Ivory Tower. It really is a hidden gem right in the centre of Cork city. If you fancy something a little different, this really is a one of a kind dining experience- it was our first time tonight and we are already looking forward to our next visit!

Thanks for the great review, and please do come again. We'll be delighted to have you back.
Seamus does try to get out of the Kitchen and meet the 'patrons' when he can, to find out what they thought about the food. Or so he says ... but leave it late enough and a bottle of wine might just come out, a story or two might escape ...
