“Why not No.1?”
Reviewed October 30, 2012

Everytime I come to Cork I always come here. However, it's become so busy lately that you have to make a reservation. This place has been delivering the goods for years and deserves it's high placing.
20euro for three courses and it's all georgeous. We both had Steaks - Rib Eye (nicest) and Sirloin (still very good). Extra potatoe and veg (not overcooked) were brought out. Desserts are really good too.
Why can't Dublin do this? I find it hard to count on one hand the restaurants in Dublin of the same standard, i.e. quality and value for money. Maybe they'll open a branch in Dublin?

“Great value, 20 euro 3 course meal.”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Not only was this great value but the food was also great. I had the bruchetta, 8oz sirloin steak and a glass of wine for 20euro. Great value. My Dad who is a fussy eater was also quite pleased as they got his order right.
The food was served quickly and with a smile to our group of eight.
There was a bit of a mix up with our reservation but the waitress apologized so much we quickly forgot about it. No tea or coffee available last night due to a kitchen breakage but I'm sure this was quickly resolved. I rated the atmosphere as average as it is such a small restaurant ( toilets are the smallest I have ever seen).
We will definitely go here again - the steak was cooked to perfection and we had a great night overall.

“Excellent value for money”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Went here with my in-laws, it was excellent. Everyone was happy leaving. My mother in law
is a hard woman to please. We had been on Hayfield Manor during the summer and the Strasbourg Goose was much better food. Only compliant was,we book for 7.30 and we where not seated until 7.50. But as the food and service was so good,we look forward to going back again.

“Best food in Ireland with quick & friendly service”
Reviewed October 21, 2012

We found this awesome restaurant when we were walking through the center of Cork. We arrived at 18.40 and the waitress informed us that they had reservations at 20.00; we could use a table until then. No problem. The service and kitchen were quick enough. We tried the 3 courses for 20eur.
The starters (homemade fishcakes & sausage) were tasty but nothing extraordinary. Not until the mains arrived. The prime irish ribeye steak came with a great sauce and a large portion of gratin potatoes and creamed spinach. The prime Irish Sirloin Steak John Gotti was also tasteful with a nice sauce and chips. We tried the great Hot Chocolate Fudge Cake with Ice - Cream and meringue which was fine
The service was pretty quick and friendly! Great tastes and value for money.
We stayed 10 days all around Ireland and this was the best dinner we had!!!
