“Poor Outside - Good Inside”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2014

We spent three nights in this hotel. It looks run down from the outside but once through the doors it is very impressive. Large impressive lobby area with efficient, helpful staff and, more importantly, our bedroom was very spacious and modern with everything one could wish for, including a fridge. The bathroom was good with a shower over a bath, good towels, magnifying mirror and a big mirror which had a heated section so that it cleared quickly. Plenty of shelf space. No noise from nearby airport. Big car park - no clamping - no ticket required. The only bizarre touch was during our three night stay we were supplied with ONE TINY PIECE OF SOAP! I'm sure they'd have supplied more if we'd have got round to asking, but this shouldn't be necessary.

Dear StaffordshireChicken,

Thank you for sharing your experience from your recent stay with us at Cork International Airport Hotel on Tripadvisor.

Your valuable feedback is important to ensure that we continually deliver the service Cork International Airport Hotel is renowned for and exceed your expectations for future visits.

We are sorry that you feel our exterior looks run down, the hotel is only 7 years old and we regularly employ landscapers and such to main the outside area. The hotel's exterior was built with a retro design in mind so may give this impression but rest assured that it is continually maintained and looked after

I do apologise about the lack of the soap during your stay, and rest assured I will look into this with the housekeeping team.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to post your review on Tripadvisor. We look forward to welcoming you back on your return to Cork.

Kind Regards

Stayed last Saturday in this hotel and was very impressed. This hotel has a gorgeous large lobby which is very impressive and we had a speedy check in with a lovely receptionist. There was four of us so had an executive room with two king size beds and two bathrooms. The room was lovely and so spacious, also there was lovely touches like bottled water, apples and an espresso machine. You have to get a taxi into the town but its only about a 15 minute drive so doesn't cost a lot. There is a good bar area and the toilets are a must see, so unusual and trendy. Breakfast the next day was a great buffet with lots of choice, very enjoyable indeed, I would definitely return.

I stayed here for a week whilst working within the Business park in which it is located. The hotel is modern, clean with good facilities. The bedroom was very nice, i really can't find fault with it. The only criticism I would have is that the wifi in the bedroom was painfully slow, and when there on business this is as critical a service as having running water in my eyes, so some development definitely required in that department.

The main restaurant was closed for renovation when I was there so all dining was in the main bar which was fine - the food was good although as a relatively plain eater i found (as is the case with most hotels in Ireland) the bar menu was a bit limited. if you are looking for a rich A la Carte style menu there is no problem, but if looking for something a little lighter the options are a little limited.

Overall though a good hotel with very helpful, friendly staff which I would happily return to again.

Dear Stephen O,

Thank you for sharing your experience from your recent stay with us at Cork International Airport Hotel on Tripadvisor.

I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and you were overall happy with the service and facilities provided at the hotel.

I am disappointed to hear that you found the bar menu limited, I hope this will not deter you in returning the hotel in the near future. We do offer a good selection of salads, as well as tapas and nightly specials.

Regarding the Wi-Fi we have upgraded our system earlier this year. Our maintenance team have checked the bedroom you stayed in and are rectifying the situation.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to post your review on Trip advisor. We look forward to welcoming you back on your return to Cork

Recently stayed here for one night with 2 friends. We had a lovely big executive room with 3 beds, the room was big and spacious with all available amenities. Separate big shower room to the bathroom. The few staff I dealt with at reception and bar were extremely friendly. I had a sandwitch with chips while waiting for friends, this only cost €5.50 in Lobby, great value. Would highly recommend this hotel! It goes that extra mile compared to other airport hotels:)

We arrived in Ireland in the evening after a very long trip from "down under", so it was great to be able to just crash at the hotel airport, rather than picking up rental car etc to make our way into Cork. It was an easy walk from the terminal although we couldn't work out how to get around the front, so had to carry our luggage up the steps to the rear entrance, only to have to then take the lift down to reception. Check in/out was efficient and friendly. We ate in the bar - the food was passable but not great. We were in a Deluxe room which was a good size, totally acceptable and we got a good night's sleep. Would recommend to anyone needing a place close to the airport for an early flight, or arriving late.

We got a 'last minute' room in this hotel and on entering the executive suite, which was the only room left, there was a 'wow' factor. The only comments not in the room's favour were that the sliding shower door did not stay closed when showering and there was a cracked pane of glass on one of the large windows which we had to make sure we did not open. Staff were all pleasant and helpful especially 'Anne' in reception who went above and beyond her duty to ensure that we were comfortable. The most unfortunate issue about this hotel was the poor menu for vegetarians, especially for a vegan vegetarian. It is so untrue that vegetarians are happy with salads ....... just where is a chef's imagination when faced with providing a vegetarian meal! We had our dinner in the dining room and the menu we were offered had 1 vegetarian meal, putting aside boring salads, which we ordered. This was a pasta meal which was supposedly served in a cheese sauce. When it arrived the sauce resembled hot, sour milk and it was quite disgusting. We were unaware at the time of ordering that we could have ordered a suitable pizza from a different menu. We did inform the waiter that the meal was disgusting and the saving grace was that we had ordered a portion of french fries which, in effect, was our dinner. The waiter offered us to speak with someone about the meal and we were also offered a pizza (Anne to the rescue!), to which we refused. As previously stated, staff were very nice, the room had the 'wow' factor but the menu, for us, badly let the hotel down.

Dear Moira B,

Thank you for sharing your experience from your recent stay with us at Cork International Airport Hotel on Tripadvisor.

I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us and I will forward the comments onto Ann, who I know will be delighted to receive them.

I know Ann informed you about the vegetarian menu but do apologise if it was not sufficient, or was not presented to you. I have spoken with the relevant people regarding the dish you did receive, and I apologise if this was not to your satisfaction.

I also note that you were happy with the complimentary breakfast that was included for you as an apology from the hotel.

I do hope that you will consider using the Cork International Hotel again in the future, if you wish to discuss any of these points further please feel free to contact me on amansworth@corkairporthotel.com.
