Stayed in this guesthouse during the weekend of 7th December 2013. Just basic. You can hear other people in the rooms next to you as the walls are so thin. If you wanted peaceful sleep this wouldn't be the place for you. Also pillow cases had stains on them. When I told the hostess no apology just had to pay the full amount. Also at check in I wasn't told what time checkout was instead she just knocked at the door at 11.00am saying '' Check out Time, You Need To Be Gone By Five Minutes'' Avoid this place if you ever visit Cork.

Room Tip: Book a hotel instead

We booked two nights but decided to leave after the first! Room and bathroom were nothing like the pictures...Very basic room, no bedside table, no lamp, only a desk one chair. Nowhere to put your bags or clothes apart from the floor and a hanger behind the door. Absolutely no toiletries apart from the handwash. No proper shower!!!! Only a bathtub with a handheld shower. Could not find anyone to ask for a soap, rang the bell twice before going out for dinner and nobody appeared. Worst B&B I have ever stayed in my life, stay away from it!

We had a twin room; the room barley fit the 2 single beds and the en suite was the size of a closet. The shower is about 3 inches from the side of the toilet which is snugly fit between 1/4 walls. If you were anything over an average size person, you would not fit in the en suite.
The room was clean, had tea/coffee in the room, the wifi was free but really slow/delayed connection.

Stayed here last Friday night with a friend as I had a day appointment the next day in the Mercy hospital. Friendly host and the room in the attic (number 5) was clean. Its an old house and while a bit of modernisation was needed, it had some character. The tv signal was poor and the charming girl looking after the B&B tried her best to fix. She failed but knocked €9 off the bill the next day. Breakfast was very good and a nice selection. Its only a two star B&B so I really don't know why people on here expect the Ritz. Its fine, and the location is very good

Room Tip: 1 2 3 or 4.

I just stayed at Shandon Bells. I had no problem. The room was clean and fine for one person which is what I needed and asked for. The ensuite was quite accommodating with a shower/tub.
The breakfast was great. Information was available for those who asked.
The only issue was parking...I was the only one with a car, so it was not a problem, but it the lot was full it would be a challenge to manoeuvre.

Situated just outside Cork city, you can easily walk into the city from here, but taxis are readily available from the hotel if you wish. The room although charming, was clean but tired looking. The ensuite was very small with just the toilet and shower. The washbasin was situated in the bedroom. Could not fault the excellent choice at breakfast which was cooked to order.

i can not say enough bad things about this bnb. as some one who organizes events I invite dozens of people to the city every year and have used lots of different types of accommodation and this bnb was the worst ever. rude and unhelpful. really not worth the money. avoid at all cost.
also security is very poor. no one there at night and window left wide open. also no visible number to ring if you need someone or have lost keys etc.
