Coming from Cork I don't really think much of Mahon Point shopping centre for a few reasons. 1, it has only one entrance for traffic and if busy it can take some time to get into it. 2, There really are no different shops here from any main shopping streets in Ireland or Britain. The one benefit is it is all indoors. This allow you to walk off then energy kids have! Cafes are not cheap for a snack or lunch. look out for the restaurants instead. There is a cinema and it's large but can be a little expensive. Baby changing facilities are good.

The cinema is very good. There has been a big improvement on the restaurants lately. I don't really find it a good place for shopping but then I don't like shopping.

From the outside it looks spectacular - but on the inside it's only ok. Food court newly renovated and is much more welcoming than before - although it's mainly fast food outlets. Nice italian restaurant down stairs with lovely staff. Downfall is the centre is very long and you have to walk the whole length to get to stairs/lifts - (no option midway to get upstairs) not ideal if your in a hurry or low on stamina. Shops are same as most high streets - nothing special and a number of units closed up. Free Parking is great and there are lots of spaces. The one thing that I found stange to be missing from a shopping centre was a butcher shop - if you wanted meat you have one choice only and that is Tesco's - really not ideal. I shop here as it is quite near to where I live but it certainly does not have a nice ambiance. Douglas Court is smaller - but just has that nicer atmosphere.
